Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Fun and light
Revisado: 02-20-24
This was a delightfully fun listen. It’s the kind of easy story that’s perfect for cleansing the palate between more challenging subjects. Scalzi’s world building is colorful and stimulating without being overblown. As usual he takes classic Sci-fi concepts and brings them seamlessly into the modern culture. Wheaton’s reading is light and humorous, matching well with the tone of the story.

It feels like grief
Revisado: 02-08-24
It’s hard for me to describe in words what this work of poetic narrative accomplishes. I have never read anything like this, but it is familiar to me in the confusion of emotions it invokes. I found myself relating to the strangest moments.

Tolerable
Revisado: 09-28-23
Throne of Glass starts off with an intriguing concept and then gradually devolves into a generic, formulaic, boring narrative that left me feeling ambivalent.

I can’t even get through this
Revisado: 09-28-23
I’ve been encouraged to read Sarah Maas for years by multiple people and finally gave it a try. Right away I was put off by the infantile bickering between all the characters at the beginning of The Assassin’s Blade. I’m assuming the story starts happening eventually, but I can’t force myself to listen to any more of this.

After the Final War, after the appearance of the Bug aliens and their enforced peace, Shining Smith is still alive, still doing business from the old scrapyard bequeathed to her by her father. But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Until the only friend left from her previous life shows up, dead, in the back of a scrapped Tesla warplane. Clutched in her cold fingers is a note to Shining - warning her of a coming attack.

Okay story but heavy with exposition
Revisado: 11-27-22
I thought the concept and world building were interesting and creative, but it took to much exposition to outline the plot. I know some people like hard sci-fi and I think this is more up their alley, with explanations of how all the futuristic tech works.

Boring
Revisado: 10-17-22
I only got to chapter seven. This is the most boring piece of fiction I’ve ever listened to. It’s all exposition. Almost nothing has happened by chapter seven. There’s no way I’m going to listen to the next 15 hours of this.

It's about death
Revisado: 04-01-21
I wish I had realized how heavily focused on mortality this would be before I listened to it. I listen to a lot of therapy books because I'm severely depressed and have a tendency toward suicidal ideation. This books sent me into an existential crisis. Don't get me wrong, it was well written and insightful, but maybe not helpful for people like me.
