Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

What a classic. I remember reading this when I was a kid. It was one of my favorite of the series. Jim Dale only adds to the magic of Rowling’s world of witches and wizards.

I loved this series. Simply put its fun. As with most King stories he creates a world and makes it relatable and normal and then throws something completely out of this world and makes it feel totally feasible. Great read. You’re my boy Bill!!

Historia
Communion is the iconic classic in which Whitley Strieber describes his 1985 close encounter experiences. This book, which fundamentally changed the way we understand close encounters and alien abductions, is presented here with a new introduction by the author. Do not miss this great classic and the powerful introduction that explores the situation as it stands today—even more provocative and important now, as official sources are admitting that UFOs are real unknowns and that they seem to have something to do with close encounters.

I’m a believer
Revisado: 04-10-23
I love when an author narrates their own book. I’ve both read and listened to this book before. Whether or not the story is true it’s a fascinating series of events. The idea that something is out there is both terrifying and so god damn exciting. As far as this book goes if you believe the author or not it’s a captivating book especially if you just go with it.

Historia
Tom Segura is known for his twisted takes and irreverent comedic voice. But after a few years of crazy tours and churning out podcasts weekly, all while parenting two young children, he desperately needs a second to himself. It’s not that he hates his friends and family — he’s not a monster — he’s just beat, which is why his son’s (ruthless) first full sentence, “I’d like to play alone, please,” has since become his mantra.

Revisado: 01-02-21
Alanson has done it again and Bray narrates the shit out of this! You would think this series would get old but I blow through every book and I hate that now I have to wait for the next book. Damn it! It’s more then just the banter between Bishop and Skippy. Alanson has built up all these great characters and I can’t help but root for the merry band of pirates!

King is KING of the thriller genre
Revisado: 05-17-20
Another well written, well narrated book. In my youth I wasn’t a Stephen King fan. I had been infatuated with the dark tower series, but never had venture any further into other works written by King. In the past couple of years I have read novel after novel expecting each to be less captivating then the previous book and I am happy to say that I am continuously proven wrong. He has a way of writing normal people and putting them into these bizarre situations that is so captivating. He’s classified as a horror novelist but I’d say he’s more of a thriller novelist. Another book well done.

Historia
As a member of the strictly religious Satmar sect of Hasidic Judaism, Deborah Feldman grew up under a code of relentlessly enforced customs governing everything from what she could wear and to whom she could speak to what she was allowed to read. Yet in spite of her repressive upbringing, Deborah grew into an independent-minded young woman whose stolen moments reading about the empowered literary characters of Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott helped her to imagine an alternative way of life among the skyscrapers of Manhattan.

A peek into the unknown
Revisado: 04-25-20
I live in an area where there is a huge Hasidic community. I’ve always been fascinated by them. I know they are a community that looks out for each other. And they have very strict rules and prefer not to social with non Hasidic people. It’s interesting to see inside their world. This is a well told story on both the authors, and narrators parts. I have so many more questions though!!

Historia
Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn’s startling book led, almost 30 years later, to Glasnost, Perestroika, and the "Fall of the Wall". One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich brilliantly portrays a single day, any day, in the life of a single Russian soldier who was captured by the Germans in 1945 and who managed to escape a few days later. Along with millions of others, this soldier was charged with some sort of political crime, and since it was easier to confess than deny it and die, Ivan Denisovich "confessed" to "high treason" and received a sentence of 10 years in a Siberian labor camp.

They never complain
Revisado: 04-18-20
It is amazing what a person can endure. Very powerful book with just a tiny glance into what the Soviet gulag was like. Imagine being a pow and escaping to return to fight for your country and you are rewarded for your efforts with a choice. Maintain your innocence and be shot or admit to treason/espionage and get 20 yrs of hard labor. We live in a world where our young are given so much and they complain about the smallest things. These people, victims of their own county never complain and made do with what they could. True survivors
