Interesting plot. Virtual voice still needs a lot of work.

Suggestions for virtual voice:
Stuttering or shivering needs to be recognized for pronunciation. Otherwise it sounds like “pluh , please and thuh , thank you” Very odd sounding.

Expressions of surprise, outrage, questioning, worry, etc. all need to be recognized and pronounced differently. Example: “Well I’ll be…” should be expressed slowly with wonder and surprise. And it should be fairly easy to accomplish when these expressions are usually followed by “she exclaimed” or shouted, cried, etc.

Learn to recognize when there is a change from male to female voices and splice accordingly. One day there will hopefully be a way to splice for accents, younger or older adults, and even children. When the voices are all exactly the same it’s often hard to follow who is speaking.

The narrator seems to mispronounce any words which are not often used in everyday speech. Ms. Smith please look up the pronunciations of any words you do not personally use often. The word absurd is not pronounced abZurd. Others include whilst, hiccough, vignt-et-un, embroglio, and denouement.

But what keeps them from being “great”? Ms. Messina’s writing and plot lines are enjoyable, which is why I keep purchasing them! But she has a running theme throughout all of her books, which gets a little old, wherein the heroine is abused quite terribly by her family, and they NEVER get their just desserts. It’s maddening! They just get away with it. I wish that just occasionally the old adage of “what goes around comes around” would apply to some of these characters.
The narrator is quite believable and her accents seem authentic, but there are some glaring mispronunciations that take one right out of the story. Such as “hik-off-ing”. Please, please look up the pronunciation if you’re unsure of the word.
A guide:Hiccoughing. Here is the UK transcription for 'hiccough':IPA: hɪ́kəp, 2 syllables: "HIK" + "up”
Whilst. How to pronounce whilst: UK/waɪlst/ as in “while-st”
Vignt-et-un. IPA:[van-tey-œn] (Not “veen-tet-oon”)

Will he ever love me? Can I love her? Over and over, on and on ad nauseum. No other plot lines.
