Historia
In June, 1978, six months before the cult massacre in Jonestown, Guyana, Flo Conway and Jim Siegelman published SNAPPING, a groundbreaking investigation of the spreading epidemic of sudden, drastic personality changes that was bringing a frightening new era of personal loss and horrific human tragedies. SNAPPING went on to sell 100,000 hardcover and trade paperback copies and become a required text in high school and college classes in psychology, sociology, persuasion, mass communication, criminology, and comparative religion. Now SNAPPING is back in a new Kindle edition of the expanded ...

This is an edition of the old book from 1978 plus a few, new interesting chapters full of info. The computer-generated voice does a good job.

Historia
Late Revelations introduces a revolutionary model for understanding the creation of the gospels in the New Testament and beyond. Rather than viewing the gospels as static and finished works published at one time, this book proposes that the initial gospels were "waves" of rolling traditions—stories, teachings, and sayings that evolved within early Christian groups. These traditions were fluid and dynamic, initially lacking the apostolic authorship attributed to them by later generations.

dr. Litwa offers a number of online courses also. He offers novel insight into the subject matter. The delivery is no-frills, packed with details. The voice actor does a good job, too.

good with a grain of salt
Revisado: 08-07-24
Most of what she says makes sense and I agree with her. However, she suggests to "discipline" (her word) one's love interest as one would a small child. I mean whatever floats her boat, but unless one (male or female) is incredibly (yes, incredibly!) valuable/attractive/endowed on the dating/relationship market, it is highly unlikely anyone would go through her laundry list of requirements, fair or otherwise...the woke/snowflake attitude of me, wonderful me would not be enough I fear. The computer-generated voice does a good job.

beat gaslighters at their game
Revisado: 08-01-24
The computer-generated voice does a good job. I basically agree with her "down with tolerance, up with expectations" motto, yet -in the end- she is indistinguishable from the gaslighters, troublemakers, moochers etc she warns us to stay away from. Namely, she claims that when her own daughter calls her yet again with yet another emergency, she states what she wants in return for her assistance, and even requests the daughter to sign a contract!

The intent of this book is to present an overview of how and to what end Jung’s work developed into a coherent worldview over the course of his life. I would particularly like to give the listener a feel for Jung’s writing at the end of his life as one cogent piece. We examine each of the major books Jung wrote during his final creative phase, and will clarify the thematic threads between them, as they form a complete and singular tapestry with a solid continuity for psychology and beyond

Historia
Our “shadow” is the collection of negative or undesirable traits we keep hidden—the things we don't like about ourselves or are ashamed of, but it also includes our positive, untapped potential. The shadow is often a source of creative inspiration and greater self-acceptance. Befriending the shadow makes fear an ally and enables us to live more authentically. It also automatically improves our interpersonal relationships, because we are freed from the need to project our own negativity onto others, and we become more acutely aware when theirs is projected onto us.

potential plagued by left-wing bias
Revisado: 06-25-24
I have all of Richo's books and they make interesting, worthy points at times.
This one book, however, intermixes equal parts of self-help with the usual left-wing manifesto.
For example, the footbal macho guy who is a closeted homosexual ought to discover his hidden self in the open...what if his hidden self requires to join the ALT-RIGHT or to take a tiki torch to protest the removal of a Confederate statue? The political messaging gets in the way...too much of the time: 1/5

I am a sort-of atheist myself and I doubt the historicity of characters like Jesus or Buddha or Zoroaster etc. The robotic virtual voice does a solid job and at times you forget it's a computer reading. The work consists in stream-of-consciousness, disjoined, Left-wing (duh!) drivel.

Historia
In the digital age, information, both true and false, spreads faster than ever. The same technology that provides access to data across the globe can abet the warping of truth and normalization of lies. In this audiobook, we examine the intersection of truth, untruth, and technology, including how social media manipulates behavior, technologies such as deepfakes that spread misinformation, the bias inherent in algorithms, and more.

good but with a strong Left-wing bias
Revisado: 04-22-24
The book is good and interesting. There is, however, a predominant Left-wing bias at work. Be prepared to hear to your satisfaction how Russia is the cradle of all evil (EG Russian hackers drove Trump to success). How coherent...when the USSR groomed and abetted firebrands who stoked polarization in the old days, the Left called it the feminist revolution and the Civil Rights crusade: not fueling discontent but “righting wrongs”. Another bias at work is elitism. One panelist hails that California did not put the vaccine question to a referedum because voters are too, you know, stupid to decide...says who? Other panelists insist that people in general are too stupid or gullible and fall for a lie, so "scientists" ought to be in charge (the panelist sees oneself included I suppose). You'll need more than a grain of salt here.

book is passable but plagued by left-wing bias
Revisado: 03-16-24
the book is passable but poisoned by left-wing bias and innuendo. "”Cato was an early populist-nationalist. He was a paleo-conservative even relative to the standards of the day— militaristic, misogynistic, and racist ”. Uh?! Of course, Berger here simply “telegraphs” the politically convenient rubbish some other woke somnambulist published elsewhere: academic cronyism. It is absurd to apply to people or events centuries or even millennia in the past the standards political opportunism dictates here this season. "”The actions of the conquistadors left as many as 70 million dead through a combination of intentional massacres, the effects of enslavement, and the introduction of deadly diseases ”. If only one figured that estimates for the Ottoman Empire's population in the year 1500 are at 15 million people.Of course, for many the only purpose of publishing any book on any arcane subject is to add political condiment that tickles the taste buds of the radical today. And many other examples I dispense with.
