Superb Story, Writing, and Great Reader

I had put off listening to this volume for months.......then came a cross-country road trip and I ran out of ear candy. I was extraordinarily pleased with this item........ this is the first review I have left in several years, so you Know I Mean It. I knew the SARS response was fast and serious......I didn't know it was so serious the author called home and told his spouse to lay in enough supplies that the family would not have to leave home for three months.......great back stories on what we have read in the news, plus I painlessly picked up some science along the way. This is Eyes Wide Open listening.....

Another flat prepped book where women are portrayed as idiots

The writing is shallow and the main character is an idiot.......oblivious to the world around her and easily manipulated by her spouse. I would get out my 9 and shot my kindle before I would read the next book. Oh, and the southern accent seemed silly. Please ya'all, just keep it.

There are many good prepper "list" books out there. There are also some very good prepper fiction books that teach what items you should stockpile through fictional examples. This book is not one of either of those types of books. This book assumes you will not be able to stockpile everything you need in a worst-case scenario, and it suggests certain items to stockpile so you can barter them for other items when the need arises.

What was most disappointing about Cal Wilson’s story?
There isn't anything here that you couldn't pick up for free, reading blogs and listening to free podcasts. The writing style was oddly annoying and rather patronizing. In a number of spots the same information was repeated as though it was being presented for the first time, making me wonder whether the book was dictated. It was obviously without the benefit of an editor.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
There were occasional incorrect inflections.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dirt Cheap Valuable Prepping?
I would have cut the whole thing.

Really please give the female half of humanity credit for some smarts, if not some marksmanship. The Christianity thing was too heavy handed. I respect anyone's spirituality but it was laid on too thickly here.
