I read this book in.... 1993. Susan Isaacs is such a good writer that I remembered a lot of the details of the story. Christine Baranski's narration was excellent! I like her anyway, but she really hit this one out of the park. I cannot listen to a poorly narrated book, and was so happy to listen to this book.

The only thing I really didn't care for was the sudden music between the chapters. But don't let that dissuade you from listening to this book! It still holds up 30 years later.

I had to get used to the pauses between the performers, as they are just slightly more long than I expected. I suspect this is from being in separate studios. No worries; just wanted to point that out to the editors.

I enjoyed this book. As I've listened to the entire Skinwalker series and a couple of other Faith Hunter books featuring Nell Ingram, it was interesting to get away from the usual suspects. I had to kind of "forget" some of what I know about the entire series to just have fun with listening to this book. It's a neat crossover; I find myself wanting to hear more of the Jane/Joanne friendship, and the other characters they encounter.

Now I'm going to listen to some Walker Papers!

I accidentally found Mel Robbins' "The 5-Second Rule" a few years ago, and it helped me tremendously. This book, and the advice and SCIENCE behind the advice, have forever changed my way of thinking about myself, my problems, my challenges, and my future, for the positive. I have started to write songs I've avoided writing, and started on a new education path that I know will create even more opportunities for me. I did the High5 Challenge on GrowthDay, and I'm getting High Performance Coaching, and I'm back to the gym. All borne of FINALLY taking myself, and my ability to problem- solve, seriously. Thank you, Mel! 💜

This book attempts to teach you Spanish through shaming of your habits. I thought this book came across as smug, and over zealously promoting a healthy agenda. I didn't come here to be preached too. I didn't download this book to change my life. I have personal development books for real Self Help and this book just made me feel icky inside. The tone of the reader is very patronizing and I didn't have a good feeling about it at all. I found the experience to be insulting after a really good try to put up with this awful book, and I mean that sincerely.

I struggled to listen to this slowly! I wanted to binge it! I have listened to every Jane Yellowrock (JY) series book by Faith Hunter (except the one that's going to be released 09/2021), and I really enjoyed this book, which takes place in the same world Faith Hunter created with JY series. (honestly unsure which came first).

I like the character Nell Ingraham a lot. She has, like JY, a strong moral core, and she's also still figuring out who she is. The plot is great because it bobs and weaves like a drunken mosquito. I've listened to book 5, and then knew I had to start from the beginning. I'm glad I did! I found this book to be very suspenseful, and compelling.

I have enjoyed this series immensely. The narration is very special: a performance that shifts and changes with each character and mood. I love losing the whole non-fiction world for an hour at a time.

This is a well-written, well-narrated, hard-to-stop-listening-to book. My husband purchased this book for me and with the book came a free audio version through Google Play. I actually purchased this book on audible so that I could review it because I think it's an exceptional book.

I happen to live in the City of Steeples, and I really loved reading about all of the wonderful things in my own city. I can tell that Rose lives here because she knew about things that pretty much anybody could run across on a trip, but not all of them! I've been to a few of the vineyards she mentions, and in fact I know people work at a couple of the vineyards she mentions, and they make fabulous wine. I can't wait to try some of the wines that are mentioned and deliciously described in this book. I know some of the people that she drew on to write this book and she captures them incredibly as well.

One detail that I particularly loved was that the author refers to "the traitor, Benedict Arnold". Believe me, we don't say that name unless it's after the phrase, "the traitor", or "the turncoat".

All those things aside, I actually found it to be a very engaging book. The characters are funny, whimsical, and very authentic by turns. The characters actually develop, as well. I like authors that don't have rigid characters. I'm looking forward to reading a lot more from Rose Young. and I'm looking forward to people visiting my Fair City because they read this book.

I might actually visit Long Island because of this book. I've spent almost 50 years avoiding going there, but now I know there are vineyards that I could visit, I might just give Long Island another chance.

I've visited the restaurants and the coffee houses that Young describes, and they really do help make New London a great place to live. Note: Muddy Waters happens to have the best tomato soup, ever. And a good, strong coffee. Enjoy the book!

Excellent details, no filler. I listened to this in one, uninterrupted shot. I've read Blind Man's Bluff (highly recommend) and a few other sub related books because my Dad served the Navy in the Silent Service for 20 years. I see submarines daily because of where I settled. I learned a lot about submarines by listening to this book.

Sidenote/spoiler: In discussing the new DSRV service, I was surprised that the nuclear-powered DSRV NR-1 and her support vessel, The Carolyn Chouest, were not mentioned. The NR-1 ended up assisting in the salvage of The Challenger, and finding The Titanic.

I loved everything about this book. Neil Gaiman’s accent is easy for this American woman to understand. I felt like this was easy to listen to and it really helps to get a lot of literary jokes when you listen to the classics.
