Historia
When the body of a barista is found in the once-pristine Alaskan snow, Anchorage homicide detective DeHavilland Beans is gutted to recognize the young woman, Jolene. He’d bought coffee from her every morning and knew her as a bright college student working her way through school. Devastated by the murder and by the life cut short, Beans vows to find the killer. Since scavengers damaged the body, obtaining any usable evidence is impossible, even with the assistance of wildlife expert Raisa Ingalls, Beans’s ex. When the body of another woman is found, a serial killer is suspected.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 09-17-24
I’ve read and loved many books in this series. This one was a real disappointment. The narration was so bad I could not tell whether the book was good. Flat, repetitive cadence, jerky and uninteresting. Skip this book.

Historia
Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There’s Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can’t save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his “prayer log.”

Overall interesting
Revisado: 08-10-24
The escapees was not a part of history that I was familiar with. The first half was a little slow but my interest picked up as soon as they began their voyage to the concentration camp.
I thought the narration was poor and distracting. Instead of developing voices, he chose to use various dialects of the English. A German Jew with a cockney accent seriously damaged my ability to follow the narration. The book itself was damaged by the narration.

Historia
Legal investigator Finley O’Sullivan has dealt with her share of shady characters, but the firm’s latest client has an even darker past than most. In fact, Nashville Metro Police seems to think he’s a murderer. Finley isn’t so sure. Her investigation into Ray Johnson’s history focuses on the unsolved murder of a teenager who died thirteen years earlier. The case went cold, but questions remain. After the girl’s death, people close to her started disappearing—Ray’s brother first, then the girl’s mother. But why?

Unbelievable characters
Revisado: 06-24-24
The heroine’s husband is killed and she is raped. 19 months later she’s n a new relationships which I buy. But no ptsd flashbacks or nightmares. Nothing. Then at the end she kills somebody, her reported first solo, in a pretty savage manner but she’s cool, no problem. Planning a party after crime scene cleanup. Come on!

In a strange little home built into the branches of a grove of trees, live three robots—fatherly inventor android Giovanni Lawson, a pleasantly sadistic nurse machine, and a small vacuum desperate for love and attention. Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe. The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled “HAP,” he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio–a past spent hunting humans. The narration is fantastic. Each voice so identifiable and personal to the character. You forget it’s one narrator. The story is enthralling and unique with great character development. Scientific, emotional and impossible to stop listening.

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Save your credit
Revisado: 05-10-23
The first half of the book is horrible. The dialogues are so bad they are irritating. The characters insipid. The second half gets better as the most irritating character have died. The idea of a 75 year old in n a young body is the only original part of the book.

A real disappointment
Revisado: 01-29-23
Worst Brown I’ve ever read. A real waste of my point. The basic plot was good but the sex scenes were gothic edging onto soft porn. Seemed a substitute for good writing. The narrator could not do female voices.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
