You will really enjoy this book - it underscores how people can become irrational for a cause!

One of the most unique stories ever written!

What an incredible story, and so well-written. I could have listened to a book many times longer, just to flush out the moral and philosophical implications of the events taking place. This idea of a world where being murdered is not always the end of your life could easily be made into mini-series or a movie. A great read and a thoroughly unique plot!

After listening to this story, I have completely reconsidered and changed how my last minor child is "displayed" on social media. This was a unique and relevant plot that addresses an issue that few people seem to think about - how influencer families use their children (and affect their futures) for financial gain. SPOILER ALERT: I do wish the author had gone deeper into the potential legal ramifications of the case, and had the characters actually go to trial rather than settle (if you can even call it a settlement). I think had she done some research into privacy law, she could have made a compelling story out of the court case itself. Instead, she took the easy way out and wrapped everything up with a nice neat bow at the end. Maybe John Grisham will take a crack at a story like this and bring it to a climactic ending using their legal expertise.

I am sure this was a cute story, but by chapter 20 or so, the 2 main characters can't get through a single chapter without having sex. It completely takes away from the plot line. Apparently the author thinks grown adults behave this way. I don't mind a rom-com story, but this devolved into smut.

Interesting plot line, although some of the events are pretty contrived. The author should have done a little more research on the legal system before writing about the criminal justice system. Good story, but could have been better with some attention to detail.

Great story, but Virtual Voice ruins it!

The story is great, but the virtual voice narration is awful on this title. The mispronounced words and inappropriate inflections are incredibly distracting. Example - the New York neighborhood called Tribeca (try-Beck-uh) is pronounced "Try Bee Caw" and the word "dour" (dow-er) is pronounced "doooor". I avoid Virtual Voice as a rule, but the storyline intrigued me. Should have just read the book ...

I tried listening to this, but the author/narrator's voice is just not made for audiobooks. I will purchase this book to read. Audible really should have paid someone to read this. The author's gravelly voice is just not ... pleasant.

The acting was well done and the story was fascinating. This was a far cry different from The Lincoln Lawyer - glad Connelly branched out!

Funny, entertaining, and completely enjoyable! After loving The Devil Wears Scrubs, I was excited to listen to book 2. It did not disappoint! Hoping for a book 3!

Good story, decent plot line, and pretty good narration. But the premise is highly unlikely - a real lawyer, with the same background and the circumstances of the murder, would NEVER have taken on this case. In the last 15 minutes, the author decided on a ridiculously contrived ending, which I found disappointing. I actually stopped listening 5 minutes into the ending when I saw where it was going, because it was just too ridiculous. Sometimes it's better to not find out "whodunit" than for the real perp to be someone so unlikely. Not sure if I will enjoy any more of Hartstone's books, knowing what could wait for me at the end.
