Historia
After living her life behind the walls of the illustrious kingdom of Delinval, Princess Mara, niece of the great King Grathiel, understands what is expected of her. As her uncle's only heir, she was raised to be a noble woman with a full understanding of the history of the lands of Zenafrost and the fallen kingdoms that lay beyond Delinval's protected borders. But the political intrigue and endless theatrics that come with her birth-right have never suited her. Mara loathes the future her uncle has planned for her, and the approach of her twenty-first birthday brings with it a new horror.

Outstanding from beginning to end!
Revisado: 02-26-25
Writing is fantastic, comparable, really even better than the biggest names in this genre. It flows so well it’s hard to find a stopping point at bedtime-I read both titles all night. Great world-building!

Revisado: 02-26-25
Writing is superb, flowing so well it’s hard to find a stopping point at bedtime-I read all night. Story is new, fresh; characters are well developed; plot has great rises and details have meaning. IA Takerian is comparable, even better than the big names in this genre.

Well done, something new from King
Revisado: 01-22-25
Great work writing in the voice of a young man. Voice talent was believable and used great breadth of acting which directly supported King’s ability to write in the voice of a young, modern male.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Surprised it was written by men— really surprised. As a woman who is acutely aware and sensitive of women’s issues, these guys NAILED IT. I want my husband to read it. Ireland did a BRILLIANT reading! Her skill is unmatched.

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent. But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

Imaginative
Revisado: 12-29-24
Story had continuity and good timing (aka well edited). I’ll definitely look forward to reading/listening to his more current books. Acting was very good, except several women were petulant and shrill, screaming their demands, main character was a little preachy but I suppose that goes along with the princess schtick.
