Common Sense with Politics Sprinkled In

While many enjoyed the "stories" I found them to be superfluous. The information she provides about preparation and surviving was good and most of it could be obtained from a few good YouTube videos or survival and situational awareness books. I agree with the comment that the personal experiences should have been a standalone book. Personally, I have little interest in biographies or the authors views on political figures. I am certain there are those that valued that but it detracted from why I purchased the book and made it a far less appealing listen.

Still great every time.

I've read several books by Gavin De Becker and every one of them has many of the same examples and scenarios. I would say reading one of them is like reading them all, but there are unique points in each one that sets your mind to consider more threats in the world, more things to be appropriately afraid of and forces you to consider the ways to counter those things. I would be remiss to say that one book could do it all, but the mindset that De Becker and his team attempt to cultivate must by nature take time and when I pick up a new book he's written I know that mindset is growing.

Wim Hof discovered something amazing. He deserves credit for his resilience and tenacity but he makes several claims about breathing and cold showers being his discovery and what he has done with science but gives little credit to the "scientists or doctors" who probably wrote down some of the fancy words he uses to describe the many processes occurring in his body when he does it. The method he uses is amazing. The man is legendary for making it known, but one could argue his narcissism detracts from the message of how to be healthy.

One of a kind.

Only a handful of books have I picked up and read only to wish I had discovered them sooner. This was one such book. In a time when the world seems to be lacking men, and beyond that, strong male figures, where we are constantly told men aren't needed and men are trash and toxic; this book highlights what sets the gentlemen apart from his boyish and weak counterparts. I wish I had read this in my teens and I can't wait to give each of my sons a copy so that they, may someday be the strong, honorable and courageous men the world needs.

Hard to believe this was written in 2017

I am just reading this as 2022 nears to an end and this book has only become more significant in pointing out the inherent differences of male and female. A must read, for everyone, "woke" or not.

God's gift to women

This book could more appropriately be titled my quest through what I think is love. As one other reviewer stated, "He must be quite the ladies' man" and another said 'everyone else is the problem'. I got this because it was contained in books about healthier relationships and without reading the whole description or reviews, realized only after listening that this is a man's personal view on what he "thinks" love should look like. After clearly living through the contradiction of the many things he says not to do and that he doesn't do. With double standards offered throughout, like if a girl has rules for her date don't date her but possessing many of his own and encouraging the reader to as well. I found it hard to sit through, and wish I could return it and forget that I heard it all together.
The narrator did well though, and for those pining for anything sappy with a sparse and intermitten bits of sound advice you could get anywhere, it may suit your fancy. For me, it was not my cup of tea.
