Historia
An instant best seller that is poised to become a classic, Moonwalking with Einstein recounts Joshua Foer's yearlong quest to improve his memory under the tutelage of top "mental athletes". He draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of remembering, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human memory. From the United States Memory Championship to deep within the author's own mind, this is an electrifying work of journalism that reminds us that, in every way that matters, we are the sum of our memories.

This story has it all!
Revisado: 08-23-19
With 485 titles under my belt, I never wrote a review. Listen to this book! You will be amazed, heart broken, frightened, rejuvenated, enlightened and, above all, entertained. Though the are elements of this story that could have gone in other directions that I might have preferred, this was well thought out, well organized, well presented and well narrated. I'm not going to tell you anything else other than, "Listen to this book"!

Those like Fallon, in possession of gifts, are hunted - and the time is coming when her true nature, her identity as The One, can no longer be hidden.

Start with, "Year One"
Revisado: 01-13-19
Ok, so i'm a Nora Roberts fan and have more than 425 listens under my belt and without every writing a review, but, "of Blood and Bone", was magical! The only thing is, you've got to read, "Year One", first (and that 'ain't'the worst sentence in the world either). Listen to them both, Roberts has an empire in the works. multiple plots, surprise, pain, passion politics, companionship and deception with just enough magic to humble you. That's all I'm going to tell you about it except, "Start Listening!!!"

Historia
On March 21, 2013, the European Space Agency released a map of the afterglow of the big bang. Taking in 440 sextillion kilometers of space and 13.8 billion years of time, it is physically impossible to make a better map: We will never see the early universe in more detail. On the one hand, such a view is the apotheosis of modern cosmology; on the other, it threatens to undermine almost everything we hold cosmologically sacrosanct.

As the author notes, there has not been a lot new in physics or cosmology. That being said, the author provides some new insights that are particularly thought-provoking. It is definitely time for a paradigm shift in cosmology and in physics.

Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

This was a fine compilation of folktales from Africa and the Caribbean and well told they were. The pseudo-rhythmical musical interludes between segments were quite unnecessary and distracting to the point of near insult. Well worth the time and very entertaining!

Historia
Mike Lofgren is back with a book perfectly pitched for the frenzied circus of the primaries. His argument this time is that for all of the backstabbing and money grubbing of the campaign season, the politicians we elect have as little ability to shift policy as Communist party apparatchiks. Welcome to Mike Lofgren's Washington, DC - a This Town where the political theater that is endlessly tweeted and blogged about has nothing to do with actual decision making.

Though his final solutions are utopian at best, this book draws some very straight lines through the last 90 years, or so, of US history and show who and why we're in the mess we're in. Extremely informative while, "entertaining" might be a stretch.

Historia
Throughout history, thinkers from mathematicians to theologians have pondered the mysterious relationship between numbers and the nature of reality. In this fascinating book, Mario Livio tells the tale of a number at the heart of that mystery: phi, or 1.6180339887.... This curious mathematical relationship, widely known as "The Golden Ratio", was discovered by Euclid more than 2,000 years ago. Since then it has shown a propensity to appear in the most astonishing variety of places.

The author did his best to present an unbiased view of all sides of the argument, however, far over explains much of his case which, at times, shows the book down to root canal painfulness.

The Ignatian goal of "finding God in all things" eans that every part of our lives can lead us to God. The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything shows us how this is possible, with user-friendly examples, humorous stories and anecdotes from the heroic and inspiring lives of Jesuit saints and average priests and brothers, as well as examples from Martin's twenty years as a Jesuit. The traditional wisdom that Jesuits use to help other people in their daily lives is easily applied, but not often explained well to the general public.
