I have listened to a few of these AI generated audiobooks and I am not really liking it. The story was quite good but Robocop narrating sexy times was awkward. Sometimes the intonation of the voice is correct but a lot of times it is just robotic. The AI also regularly mispronounces names and some words. It made this hard to listen to and it took me several tries to get through it all. Even though I liked the story I don't think I'll be listening to any more of these.

I feel like the AI generated books should be in the free listen section, they really are not on par with actual professional narration.

I really enjoyed this story, the narration was fine but I wish it had been with 2 readers as the female voice didn’t really do the male character justice. Overall I would highly recommend.

Surprise Ménage? (Spoilers)

This book does not have the spark that her other books had. Reader is fine I guess but his women’s voices aren’t great and not great for the sexy parts. The book was pretty confusing and had flashbacks and inner monologues dragging the story down. All the fast fighting action on pause while the characters think in their own heads slows everything down and makes the action confusing. I didn’t get a feel for what all the different aliens looked like, nor the inside of the ship(s), or even what was going on in the first half of the book.

I actually put this one down for some time and started listening to it because I didn’t have another book picked out. I actually would never have gotten it due to the three way arrangement near the end - I am soooo not into that - and don’t really want to listen to it any more with 50 min left. Adding in another sexual partner is just icky. Description should have a warning on it.

Overall this was not up to the standards of the Kardolian books and it has been a project to get through it this far. Not sure if I will try to finish with some fast forwarding or not.

Narration is quite good but that's about it

Book 1 has action and adventure but the h is kinda strange. Doesn't stand up for herself and does weird things (like sleeping at the airport instead of taking the free hotel). Not really clear why she does what she does. Whatever, it ended ok.

Book 2 was all emo and angst. I don't know why these characters ever got together. The H is kinda creepy and the h is just a victim for everyone. The H totally betrays and abandons her for no perceivable reason and the second half of the book just deals with that. Not into angst.

Book 3 starts off pretty bad and I just had to give up. Totally weak and victimized h. I guess it probably gets better from rock bottom but do I care enough to find out? I say probably not.

Book 4 Don't know anything about it and not going to find out. I think I am done with this series and maybe this author.

I'm enjoying these stories but...

I'm enjoying these stories and have made it to book 3, but there is some inconsistent story line from previous books. The h in this book brings baking, farming and animal husbandry to the alien community. It is odd that she has some flour that she
"made" from grain from when our human ladies first landed. It's confusing because in book #1 the human women only spent one night before they were attacked and lost pretty much all of their stuff. Especially for a woman with 2 monstrous kids I don't see how she would have managed to do all of that on day 1 then manage to keep a hold of her multiple grain mills, her freshly made flour and her kids and survive.

Also, I am still wondering why a society with interstellar communication and spaceflight has no technology, electricity, communicators, education system, written language, law enforcement, central government, science, scientists, medicine, farming, and almost no animal husbandry. They clearly know what a spaceship is but nothing else. What's the deal?

There is also the element of some magic that seems to go on with the true mate pairs which is interesting. There is a hint of some sort of ancient technology with those shoulder things the warlords wear but they are barely mentioned in these stories. The book covers show them made out of metal, but in the text it sounds like they are actually made out of wood, so that's kind of confusing.

This book also has some steam/sex scenes which are good, but also a lot of inner monologue about sexy thoughts that can be a bit tedious. I would say I like this book the best of the series so far. By the end of the book the current story lines are resolved while still leaving some larger mysteries to be solved in later books.

How can a space faring race have no technology?

Overall I do like the story, I am just wondering how a space faring race with interstellar communication and transportation has no technology. These guys live a totally primitive life but don't know what a video recording is, have no electricity and don't seem to even have any sort of personal communicators. Even our space faring ladies had tech before they lost pretty much all of it. I am also wondering why they never retrieved any of their stuff. There are just some loose ends that need tided up.

I like a steamy book, but there is a lot of inner monologue with not so much action. And how did the H learn all his sexy moves? Didn't all the women die out like 10 years ago? I am also unclear as to how many women there are, we don't get a much info on how bit their "colony" was supposed to be. I would just like to know more details then have been provided so far.

I do like the world building, living in the trees, and flying about on giant bugs. I'll move on to the next book and see if I can get some of my questions answered. This has been a pretty fun book.

Same hank new story!

After reading some bad reviews, I was preparing for a lackluster episode of hard luck hank. But…. I was pleasantly surprised! The writing structure is different, and includes narration from supporting characters. That adds some newness, and the new setting also comes together to create a book that is different enough to be interesting. I also quite enjoyed hank’s character development (or regression) I began to wonder if he is going senile or loosing muscle control? Parkinson’s? He got more stupid and more clumsy but that just adds to the ridiculousness. I just re listened to all the hank books for this one and I laughed quite a few times with this one, more than past books.

Fun and interesting story

The story has an interesting premise of the living ships which is different from a lot of other "lost in space" "romance with a sexy alien" books out there. I like the ship and there is some mystery around how it works and what it is doing. It is nice to see something different in these types of stories. A lot of the same though - lost in space, marooned on a planet with a lot of random wrecks on it, evil aliens wanting to capture the gorgeous marooned women yada yada. Some sexy times and a guaranteed HEA. Could have been more sexy times though. Overall a good listen that I enjoyed, on to the next book.

Great story!

This is another great book from Ilona Andrews. I took down one star because there is little "adult" content. I guess there is one love scene but this is a young couple in love, one would expect a little more zing between the characters. I just wish there had been more "adult themes" in the book.

Heroine is immature and heartless

Mild spoilers

Did not like how the heroine handled the death of her friend. It’s like she didn’t care he was dead, there was little to no grieving and zero guilt. I couldn’t stand it because she played a huge part how he died. Her whole friend group is stupid and heartless. They don’t really care when their friends die, only when they might get in trouble with the authorities about it. These are adults by the way, not teenagers.
