Fantastic Book!

This was such a great book. I really enjoyed it and learned so much from it. So little is said these days about this aspect of the Christian religion and it is great to go so in depth with an expert in the field.

Father of cyberpunk William Gibson’s original script for Alien III, written in 1987 as a sequel to Aliens, never made it to our screens, although it went on to achieve cult status among fans as the third instalment that might have been after being leaked online. This terrifying, cinematic multicast dramatisation - directed by the multi-award-winning Dirk Maggs - is the chance to experience William Gibson’s untold story and its terrifying, claustrophobic and dark encounters between humans and aliens, as a completely immersive audio experience.

It was ok.
Revisado: 03-14-23
Worth listening to if you are a fan of the Aliens franchise; just don’t be expecting a masterpiece.
I have have to say though, and the movies suffer from this same failing, the Xenomorphs (aliens) are a fearsome enough foe that they don’t constantly need to be constantly modified to escalate their lethality. There were also a few things I thought didn’t exactly fit the Aliens universe, but there was some nice universe building here as well.
As an audio drama I found the performance to be pretty good and the audio effects to be well done. Since this was based on an unproduced script, I think I might have preferred this to the Alien 3 movie we got.

COVID-19 was used to launch the worst tyranny in American history, which we’re still facing even now. It was also the worst oppression in global history since the Third Reich. Just as that evil required a reckoning at Nuremberg, this one does as well. In this Nuremberg 2.0, we call witnesses that our elected representatives and law enforcement agents need to hear from in order to know the full extent of the evil and who is responsible for it—so that this never happens again.

A Truly Stunning Read
Revisado: 03-12-23
Rise of the Fourth Reich has to be one of the most important books I’ve read with regard to COVID and our current situation. This book is packed with firsthand accounts and facts, that are all backed by documentation. I’m sure there are facts or accounts that can be disputed, but they must be honestly contended with, at a minimum. Although it’s not an easy read, as parts of the book will most likely outrage the reader, the book paints a very compelling picture and leaves the reader with a thorough action plan to avoid the repetition of these experiences.
I would recommend this book to anyone in the medical community or to those seeking a more complete understanding of the COVID era that we have all been living through.

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

Always a Good Read.
Revisado: 03-01-22
I have read The Art of War many times over the years, listened to a number of audiobook version and read books applying its principles to a number of different disciplines, including business, economics, politics and actual combat. This short book is so full of wisdom in negotiating competition that it is definitely worth multiple reads.
This particular Audible edition, read by Aidan Gillen who plays Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish in Game of Thrones, was very well done. It’s very short, at about a one hour runtime, so you can really zip through it.

I can really see why people have been talking about this book... for more than 170 years!
Revisado: 02-28-22
This is my first time reading “The Law” and I was very impressed by the conciseness of Frederic Bastiat’s writing. The book is short and fairly easy to read, while presenting the reader with some very dense content.
Perhaps the life span of this book has persisted because you can understand it and relate to its content on a single reading, but there is plenty to contemplate upon subsequent readings. Even though “The Law” is more than 170 years old, the concepts are still as applicable today as I they were when they were written.
I am definitely going to be rereading “The Law” sometime soon, because there was so much of it that I want to retain. It’s one of those rare books that felt like I could have highlighted and underlined the entire thing.

Much Wisdom Can Be Found Here
Revisado: 12-11-21
I really enjoyed this book. It is a thoughtful considered look at what the story of Star Wars can teach us about the world today, with our rancorous political environment. As Star Wars has become an important part of our modern mythology, it seems very appropriate to compare it critically against our own society, as we might with the works of Shakespeare, Mark Twain or the Greek myths. Important works speak to the condition of man, and Star Wars is no different. It is full of wisdom and wit and draws on deep religious and mythological themes. The author is extremely knowledgeable in regard to his subject matter, and makes great connections and inferences.
I highly recommend this book to any Star Wars fans and any followers of American politics from whatever walk of life, Democrat, Republican, Separatist, Jedi or Sith.

A Really Great Read.
Revisado: 08-09-21
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I found it’s combination of engagement, brevity and straight forward language made it a quick but interesting read.
I first heard about this book when the author was on the C.S. Lewis podcast, Pints with Jack, and I was very interested in the topic it addressed. Lewis is such an influential writer, a person who positively influenced him, in both his religions life and his writing, would be intriguing to learn about, and it was.
The author did an excellent job of teasing out even the most subtle of connection between the works of the two authors showing a very clear influence. Chesterton’s writings were clearly well know and understood by Lewis and showed themselves in Lewis’ work throughout his life.
To be honest though, although I find myself hearing lots of his quotes lately and hearing how influential he has been, I don’t know very much about Chesterton or his works. (Sorry Pints with Chesterton, maybe I’ll get to your podcast one day.) Because of my limited exposure to his works, I found the information about Chesterton very interesting.
