Historia
The Norfolk coast made for a perfect holiday - as long as the sun still shone. But when the rain came, the creatures left the shadows. Spectres from the past tortured James Hildebrand's mind. His blackest nightmares were crowded with malevolent, coiling images of decay. Then, suddenly, he knew the threat was real. The dead alone could not quench their hunger. And, for the living, the horrors that fed and multiplied in the darkness of the night became more terrible with the dawn.

It was ok
Revisado: 02-17-20
I had a hard time getting into this story. For me the story started out slow and boring so it took me a few days to get into this book. It it definitely classic horror so per the other reviews you'd like this if that's the kind of horror you're into. I don't always go off of the reviews when I pick books because everyone's tastes are different and sometimes I like books that a lot of people don't care for; but this is a story true to the reviews. If you're more into modern horror (like I am) then you should skip this book. I gave this book 4 stars because the story was solid and I'm sure if I was more into classic horror I would have loved it. I don't think the overall rating of the book should be brought down just because this story wasn't my cup of tea. It was a good solid story and the narrator did an excellent job too.

Standard Horror
Revisado: 02-17-20
Good book and decent story line. Not overly scary, more of a paranormal mystery rather than a true horror story but it was good. It held my attention fairly well. I did take a break about half way through and listened to something else for awhile but all in all it was good. Basic story line is just as described. There's an attack and then the rest of the book is how she figures out who attacked her and what the mark on her back means. That's why I describe this as more of a mystery than a true horror story. The narrator did a good job. I've listened to several books narrated by Hannibal and he doesn't disappoint.

Good Short Listen
Revisado: 02-12-20
Good fast short story. Quick and to the point but a good listen also. Even though it was short it didn't feel rushed in the part of the story it was telling. It almost felt like I was listening to an excerpt from a book but I also received the necessary back ground information so I could follow along and know what was going on. If you're looking for a quick but engaging story I would recommend this one.

Historia
Maybe the youngest son of a violent criminal named Hoggy Thompson was born a beast. Maybe rage was beaten into him. One thing was certain, by the time he reached manhood, Jerry Thompson was a savage killer. He had no conscience about rape, child molestation, or thrashing a dozen men in a prison fight. Once he got his hands on a gun, any target would do. He didn't leave witnesses. When he terrorized an entire courtroom and offered to rip deputy prosecutor Larry Sells apart, people wondered if there would ever be a way to stop his viciousness.

A bit of a hard listen
Revisado: 02-11-20
I'm not exactly sure what it was about this book but I had a hard time concentrating on the story. This book just didn't hold my attention. I had to stop listening several times and listen to something else for a while before coming back to this book. I'm not sure if it was the narrator or the story but it just seemed really slow moving and therefore I had a hard time staying focused. I've listened to several true crime books and most of them are pretty interesting but I just had a really hard time getting through this one. It may be different for others though. If you're interested in the story you might want to give it a try.

Historia
"You haven't heard the last of us yet..." These were chilling words on a note left behind by seven armed and dangerous inmates who escaped from the John Connally prison in South Texas on December 13, 2000. Their promise has apparently been fulfilled. The inmates, now known as the Connally Seven, are suspected of having first robbed a Radio Shack in Houston, and then, days later, on Christmas Eve, of having fatally shot and run over a young police officer during an assault on a Dallas sporting goods store. For six frantic weeks, a massive manhunt with a significant reward had only turned up dead ends - until a tip came in from someone who had seen the gang on Fox TVs, America's Most Wanted. Authorities arrested four of the seven prisoners, including suspected ringleader George Rivas, in Woodland Park, Colorado, and a fifth inmate shot himself during police negotiations.

Good True Crime
Revisado: 02-10-20
This was an interesting and engaging true crime book. Well written with a good amount of detail but not too much. I didn't feel like he was giving use so much information that some of it was useless. Sometimes true crime books can go into too much detail that they're just not interesting anymore or they become hard to follow. And this book followed 7 people, not just one so there was a lot of information that needed to be provided so you could get a clear picture of the each one of the escapes. If you're into true crime I would recommend this book. If you're new to true crime I would also recommend this book. It is a longer book but there are 7 people's stories to tell not just one. All in all this was a good book.

Historia
When Dr. Jane Lee, a recent graduate, takes her first position as a psychiatrist at Southern States Mental Institute in Memphis, she gets more than she had bargained for. The idyllic images she had created in her mind while in school of treating the mentally ill clash immediately and drastically with the reality of the practice in real life. From the filthy, creepy, neglected facility in which she now works and the attitude of those in the mental health industry itself to the haunting madness of her first-ever patient, Matilda Rose, nothing is as she had imagined it would be.

Good Listen
Revisado: 02-07-20
Based on the title of the book I wasn't sure but I decided to give it a try. It was good, keep me engaged and moved along at a steady pace. It didn't seem drawn out at all. It also kept me guessing about the true plot of the story and what was really going on in the asylum. I would recommend this book. I don't want to give away too much so I'm not going go into a lot of detail but this book definitely had some twists that I honestly didn't see coming.

I'm not really sure what to think about this book. It was ok; not very scary in my opinion but the writing was good. I honestly had a hard time actually listening and not just tuning it out as background noise. But, I think this author is good, his writing is good and if it would have been a longer book I think I would have liked it better. The narrator did a good job. He had a good voice for a horror story. If you're into quick fast horror shorts then I think you'd probably like this book.

Solid True Crime Book
Revisado: 02-06-20
I have been listening to a lot of true crime lately. This book was good. I felt there was a lot of good background information on the killer and the family portrayed in this book. It was interesting and engaging without dragging on. Some of the true crime books I've listened to go into way to much detail, making the book very long and drawn out. I felt that there was a good mix of background details and investigation details to make this book interesting and not boring with long drawn out useless information. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in true crime.

Good Mystery
Revisado: 09-17-18
All in all it was a decent book. This is the first book I’ve listened to by Dawn Kopman Widden and so obviously the first one of this series but I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. Everything that you needed to know that pertained to this story was provided. Sometimes I felt like things were a little chaotic and maybe a little mixed up but it was a good mystery. It keeps you guessing and wasn’t the standard everything ends up being ok story; which I liked about the book. I am definitely curious about the other books in this series and will most likely listen to them. If you enjoy a good mystery that doesn’t follow the standard storyline that readers (or listeners) expect then this book is for you.

So Good!
Revisado: 08-14-18
Excellent horror story! Honestly I have to say this story was not what I was expecting it was better than I expected. For me horror stories are usually a hit or miss but this one was really good. It held my attention and there was so much detail when describing the “monster” mutation that patients were going through. It was so interesting and it definitely was not your average horror story. I liked the fact that it was a paranormal horror because that wasn’t what I was expecting. It caught me off guard but intrigued me too. I would recommend it if you’re looking for an out of the ordinary horror book that’s actually good.
