Historia
When the AI infected the internet, three hundred years of industrial and technological advancements were eradicated overnight. After untold sacrifice, humanity won—barely. Victory was only possible thanks to the hidden martials revealing themselves and stepping onto the stage of history. They were named the Old Monsters, immortal superhumans with impossible strength and speed, capable of dismantling entire armies with their bare hands. Thus began the gold rush of the 25th century; the rush to fitness, to the unimaginable power displayed by the Old Monsters.

This is a quality story...
Revisado: 04-16-25
...it just not might not be my cup of tea.
I love regressor stories so that's a huge plus ...but i hate books about games. Have no problem, and often enjoy books that incorporate game-like mechanics ...but straight-up video game books just don't do it for me. I can't buy into that premise, i know its all fantasy, but I'm just not a fan. If ur just in ur living room n the other guy is just in their living room ...there's no drama for me. It's a narrow distinction, but it's a valid one.
That said, this is a well thought out, and well written story. I loved the Density God series, so I saw that this was the same author and got this book without hesitation ...but I didn't realize it was a video game book.
Anyways, all of that to say, even with my bias against straight-up video game books I can recognize the quality here.
Where I might reluctantly be dragged through this story, n still get some enjoyment out of it ....other ppl who don't have my very specific hang-ups about video game based stories could whole-heartedly enjoy this series from start to finish.
If ur like me n the whole video-game premise is not ur favorite, I think this one might still be worth checking out. This particular story looks like one day in the distant future things will probably shift to the "real-world"

Most organic intro to a progression fantasy ever!!
Revisado: 04-07-25
Really well done. Love it. Consider me a fan.
Even the MC's trauma n his personality feels organic.
You know this is a fantasy story, but that said a lot of books are still very clumsy about how they introduce u into the whole fantasy world, and magic powers situation. Every story in this genre has to explain to the reader where they are and what is happening ...but this story really nailed it.
I fully enjoyed this book, but even so you can tell all the really cool stuff is yet to come.
Highly recommend checking this on out!!!

Countless obstacles have barred Argrave’s uncertain path to kingship, most of all his own acceptance, yet now the race is nearing its end. His brother Orion has acted contrary to anyone’s expectations in defying his father, yet a kingdom is more than its king alone. Each of the kingdom’s dozen vassals have vassals of their own, and Vasquer is on the brink of shattering into countless petty nations as it did in the history Argrave remembers. The stain of bastardry lingers on Argrave’s claim, and unless he intends to earn a title without any power, he must act the delicate diplomat, ...

Virtual voice needs a tune up
Revisado: 03-18-25
I actually work a lot with machine learning models and artificial intelligences, and that y I know there needs to be a feedback mechanism for recursive learning to happen.
Overall, I think the narration was not bad, u don't get any cues from the AI narrator from tonal inflection to know when something important is happening so u can perk up n pay proper attention. That was my main complaint with virtual voice on day 1, and its still true today ...but if u r invested enough in the story to pay proper attention regardless, and if u don't need those verbal cues to catch important moments in the story ...then virtual voice is perfectly serviceable
buuuuuuuuuut ...some really basic errors, easy to fix stuff, super low-hanging fruit ...consistently made all throughout the book.
I'm referring to the different tiers/ranks of power
a 7yr old could pick up from context that C-rank, B-rank, A-rank, and S-rank are levels meant to distinguish relative power/quality/ability ...but virtual voice pronounces them as if they r words. In particular, A-rank is "arank" and S-rank is "sss-rank" (like a snake hissing). Throughout the whole book, n there's like 6 more books. At no point can the ML-model learn/change/evolve ...it detracts from the immersion
Other than virtual voice being the narrator, this series is really well written, definitely worth checking out

This book scratches an itch that's hard to reach
Revisado: 01-23-25
The author here gets more cerebral than most authors do in progression fantasy. The magic system is not plug-n-play, it rich and vivid and full of potential. Powers depend on perspective, and how u see the world. Obviously, everybody sees things differently, and some ppl r more imaginative than others ...so if u like getting into the intricacies of magic systems then u will probably really like this story.
Besides the magic system, there's also a sensible MC who has reasonable motivations. AKA the story flows and the MC doesn't make terrible decisions just for the sake of moving the plot along. There's an event happening in this world, and the MC is experiencing it with everyone else. He's not especially knowledgeable about what's happening, and as a reader u learn as he learns, n he's a really smart guy ...that's his whole thing.
I like the magic system, I like the MC, I like the story, I like the world-building. The pace is a slow burn so far, but I think book 1 laid a foundation, n subsequent books will have a lot more action.
All in all I think they did an excellent job with this one.
Highly recommend checking this one out!

Kaito = Ryun & Endless Plains = Infinite Realms
Revisado: 12-21-24
That said, even though some of the "BIG picture" concepts were obviously borrowed ...the details are original and stand firmly on their own.
I found this book to be very entertaining and worth my time. I'll definitely keep up with this one as new books become available.
Kaito definitely reminds me of Ryun, which is not a bad thing. Ryun is a BOSS, one of my favorite MCs ever!!!
Kaito is also very much a BOSS, and u get to know him well enough to appreciate the differences. He isn't a carbon copy, but if ur a fan of Infinite Realms then u'll c the similarities without having to look too hard. In fact u won't ave to try at all, the similarities will just jump out at u ...but as I said, it's not a bad thing ...he's a fun MC to follow on this journey in a new world.
The magic system is original and doesn't try to mimic anything else, it's not overly complicated, but I still don't fully get it. MC spends most of this book operating outside the bounds of the system ...so maybe that's by design and we'll dive into it more in future books.
The fights scenes are vivid and engaging, really well written. Have to give the author credit here, it's easy to be kind of lazy when getting into these details, but the author stayed vigilant n painted rich images for us filled with impressive and memorable moments.
The narrator was cool, there were points where the performance felt unpolished, but overall he did a good jobs. Just can't give him full marks in good conscience.
Overall though, I like this one, highly recommend!
Well worth the credit to listen!

Reborn on Gryndor with the mythical trait [Divine Witness], Ajax swears to live a life of no regrets. This time, he will seize every opportunity, fight every monster, and plunder every treasure as he enjoys life to the fullest. If only it were that easy. Humans are considered one of the weakest sentient races, confined to their patch of land but that hasn't changed their nature as they fight amongst themselves forced to split their sources of power instead of unite for the greater whole

It's nice ...but its gimicky
Revisado: 12-12-24
I like the story. In fact I love this kind of story, but there's things in this one that annoy me. This artificial sense of drama built up around keeping ur stats n whatnot private. It's not really that original. A lot of books include some sense of importance around keeping ur info private, but this book focuses on it waaaaaay too much ...n it also doesn't do a great job of making it feel organic with the story. It feels forced the way it's done n it breaks my immersion. It detracts from the story for me. Like, instead of adding depth to the story it feels like an annoying distraction that the author keeps circling back to. Like, geez give it a rest already.
That's my 2 cents. I still like the story, but I just recognize that this aspect of it cud be a lot better.

U need to kno ur audience bro
Revisado: 12-07-24
I love ur writing, I love ur books, but this one pissed me off towards the end.
Y give this whole schpiel about Ryun having this domain ability that basically allows him to be a god within his realm of influence ...n then when we don't get to see him use it when he fights?!?!?!?
Listen man, u've got to give the people what they want ...or at least what they think they want
n if ur not going to give them what they think they want, then u need to give them something better
...I promise u none of ur readers wanted this long drawn out thing, where the main character (and this book does have a main character ....and it is Ryun) is held back from us ...playing this game of keep away does not provide ur readers with an enjoyable experience
I find myself feeling like this book ate up a bunch of my time, got me feeling really frustrated along the way, and then disappointed me at the end
That said, I'm still a huge fan ...and I still love the series ...just remember u have an audience bro, n u need to keep us in mind when u write stuff ...generally we trust u to take us on a journey and we go with u willingly, but it needs to be worth it in the end, n u need to make it somewhat enjoyable along the way
anyways ...that's my 2 cents

Crossbow cultivation???
Revisado: 11-12-24
I'm a fantasy snob now I guess.
Once the MC talked about wanting a gun, n then ended up choosing a crossbow as a weapon ...I lost a lot respect for the book.
I have to say up until that point I was enjoying the story, and I was excited about the world you were building, but as soon as I read that I switched over to another book. I just have zero interest in a story built up around using a crossbow.
Ur in a world filled magic and super powers n u decide "crossbow!!!!"
As in, just move my finger a tiny bit n that's it?!?!?!
Where's the magic bro???
Nah ...I don't accept that premise Mr. Author person, and for that reason and that reason alone I have given up on u.
Maybe one day I'll try to finish the book, and maybe I'll find out that u ended up doing something to make it interesting, and if that's the case I'll eat my words and kowtow 3 times ...I doubt that will happen tho
Regardless, until then I don't trust ur judgement. The crossbow thing is a BIG strike against u.
What were you thinking!?!??!

When quiet Orrin and his extroverted best friend, Daniel, were transported to a strange RPG-based world, not much changed between them. Daniel became a hero of legend, while Orrin remained his unobtrusive shadow. Only when they faced a particularly lethal foe did Orrin step out of his comfort zone and display his true worth—with powers he didn't know he had. Of course, Daniel got all the glory, but Orrin doesn't mind. He's just happy they're both still alive.

Revisado: 10-28-24
....but I want Maddie to die in a fire.
So incredibly annoying. Why create a character like this ...what purpose does she serve other than to be annoying and presumptuous.
Outside of her, I think the book is really well written. And I mean, I'm still enjoying the series, even though I can't stand a character who is featured prominently in almost every scene.
If not for the bane of "Maddie" I'd give this book 5 stars.
Highly recommend!!!
