Historia
Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He still does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar routines: the pub quiz, his favorite bench, his cat waiting for him at home. His days of adventure are over. Adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s job now. Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. Working in private security, every day is dangerous. She’s currently on a remote island protecting mega-bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio, until a dead body and a bag of money mean trouble in paradise. So she sends an SOS to the only person she trusts . . .

Another hit!
Revisado: 09-25-24
I adore this man’s madcap storytelling style. Flitting about from POV to POV like an angry mosquito. It shouldn’t work. I should be frustrated that this story jumps around so much. But I love it! Osman doesn’t break any storytelling rules. He doesn’t even bend them. All the beats are there. They’re just doled out in the most unique way. You wouldn’t think it possible to bond with a character with a story written in this fashion, but I adore Amy, Steve, Rosie, and the supporting cast. I’m truly in awe of this man’s skill. I am so excited about where this trio will take us.

Historia
When the Australian Mystery Writers’ Society invited me to their crime-writing festival aboard the Ghan, the famous train between Darwin and Adelaide, I was hoping for some inspiration for my second book. Fiction, this time: I needed a break from real people killing each other. Obviously, that didn’t pan out.

Phenomenal!
Revisado: 09-13-24
This author and narrator are a perfect pairing! So clever, witty, and endearing. The mystery follows all the rules of storytelling, but it’s unveiled in the freshest way. Ernest is such a delightful character and I love that’s he’s found genuine happiness after the tragedies of the first book.

Historia
Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Absolutely brilliant!
Revisado: 09-07-24
I think this book is one you either love or hate. I am #teamlove. It’s by far the most unique mystery I’ve read/listened to in a long time, if ever. I thoroughly enjoyed each twist and turn and revelation. It was like an Agatha Christie mystery but with a modern twist. It feels like a conversational story told around a fireplace. I’m not always fond of breaking the fourth wall, but it was brilliantly performed here. The cast of characters were brilliant, although not always likable. The surprises keep coming right up until the very end. I’m grateful Audible recommended it.

Sophistication and action!
Revisado: 02-11-24
This cozy mystery series is a cut above the rest. Between this one and the Country Club Murders, Julie Mulhern is in a class all on her own. Her books include savvy, intelligent women and sophisticated mysteries.

Butcher & Blackbird Forever!!
Revisado: 01-20-24
The premise of this book isn’t new. Morally gray serial killers taking out the really really bad serial killers. The fun competition between the main characters is also not new. The story was delivered in a way that made everything feel fresh and new. That’s the gift. Lucy Rivers and Joe Arden performed their butts off! The production quality of this audiobook was next level good. Even though I am super squeamish, I absolutely adored this book! I cannot wait for the next in series.

I am such a big scaredy cat, but I love Simone’s books. Her writing is just spectacular, especially her historical novels, and I can never turn them off once I start. Her ghost stories are the best, and I freaking love her leading ladies.

Touré Wallace and Niomi Spencer were close friends at Finley College, the prestigious HBCU they attended. The attraction that simmered between them every semester was a question they never got to ask or answer before soaring ambitions launched them to opposite corners of the world. Both chased their dreams of grit and glamor as high-profile journalists. They got it all...except a shot at being more than friends. Years later, Touré is an award-winning investigative journalist and Niomi is America's most popular morning-show host, but they both feel like something’s missing.

Revisado: 02-27-23
I adored this book—my first by this author but definitely not my last. This is how you tell a complete story in shorter form. The narration was perfection, and I loved the the marching band intro/exit. Excellent storytelling, narration, and production! Bravo, everyone!
