Historia
When Robin finds out she's going on a work trip to Italy she can't wait for a week away in the sunshine, away from the daily grind. So what if there's a client pitch to do while they're there? The thing Robin is most excited about is the chance to show her work crush, James, what she's really like outside of work, and divert his attention from Liz, her work rival. To make things even better, Robin realises that the town they're going to in Italy is the same place that her childhood penpal, Andrea is from.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 12-16-24
Story beautiful. Female narrator very good. Male narrator almost made me stop listening, but so glad I didn't give up. He's horrible at accents and had Jameson from Colorado sounding like JFK from New England. Didn't care for his British accent either. Fortunately, the female narrator speaks the majority of the time.

Cute

really cute, light, fun and fast rom-com. enjoyed it. seems like every Bastone book I listen to takes place on the phone. unique concept. much preferred to books heavy on a texting format. I don't care for the latter.

Historia
When ballet dancer Clara Campbell arrives in New Orleans, lonely and homesick, she is immediately captivated by the story of Windisle Plantation and the tragic tale that is said to have transpired beyond its gate. Legend has it that it is abandoned by all living souls, but to Clara’s great surprise, it is not a ghost she hears through the stone wall surrounding the property, but a flesh and blood man: a scarred stranger with a pain deeper and darker than the churning waters of the Mississippi river that flows beside his self-imposed prison.

Enjoyed
Revisado: 06-24-24
Enjoyed this story and thought the author did a great job narrating. I love books that take you away to another place, time and culture. I feel like I've been in South America this last week with all the wonderful descriptions. It was sad in spots, but then, all the best books seem to take a reader through some hard times and finally out into the joyous light. Sad to hear that the author was given a hard time about writing of a place and culture that she wasn't born into. That really burns me up! A local person might not be able to give me the experience of being a foreigner in a new land. I think the writing would be more relatable if the writer came from a similar culture and background of my own and then took me through the process of us seeing a new place and way of life together. Shame on those who tried to convince her she shouldn't write about other cultures other than her own. They obviously don't know what the public looks for in a good book, particularly those of us who like to travel and those of us who find the only travel we can make at this point in our lives is through books. I thank the author for standing strong and fighting to bring her stories to us!

So good! Audible has these free Christmas rom coms and I'm really not into therm, especially when it's not even Christmas time, but I went ahead and put this in my library and held it for a couple of months. I went ahead and listened to it yesterday and am so glad I did! It was fantastic! Almost choked while eating because it was so funny and definitely very swooney!

Historia
New York, 1960: For Benny Lament, music is his entire life. With his father’s deep ties to the mob, the Bronx piano man has learned that love and family can get you in trouble. So he keeps to himself, writing songs for other musicians, avoiding the spotlight…until the night his father brings him to see Esther Mine sing. Esther is a petite powerhouse with a gorgeous voice. And when Benny writes a hit song and performs it with her, their collaboration thrusts the duo onto the national stage…and stirs up old issues and new scrutiny that the mob--and Benny--would rather avoid.
