Ok I did it. God this book is long. These people are the best kind of freaks- but believe it or not they are the least interesting people in the story itself. On to book 3

I’ve heard a bunch of times this book described as a warm hug, and yes. Can confirm I have been hugged and I feel warm. This is such an imaginative story and the characters feel very realized with such lovely little quirks. I loved hearing about them throughout this book. The story is a little predictable but I don’t think that takes fully away from its charm. And the message behind the story? It’s so relevant to the world we live in right now, and I hope that when people read this book they also take its message. We are all capable and deserving of love and respect and that alone deserves to be protected. I really enjoyed this book- immediately starting the next one. One more thing though- these characters are all British, right? Like this place might not be real but these characters are British…why is there a non-British narrator? No offense to Mr. Henning- you’re great! But it’s just like…you said bugger at one point and it threw me off so much I had to watch a supercut of Hugh Grant saying it before I could bring myself back to the book.

Downloaded on a whim to use up a credit and I AM SO GLAD I DID!! I loved this book. Avi and Kyran are my effed up little muffins and I love them. This story is a long one, but I literally couldn’t stop listening to it. My only gripe would be that someone didn’t tell the one narrator that he didn’t always have to do the sexy voice- but girl, I wasn’t complaining. The spice in this book is *chef’s kiss* and the narrators do a fantastic job of not only selling that aspect but the two of the characters actually falling for each other- there were times I felt so gripped by the narration there were tears in my eyes. You guys, this is just a very sweet love story with some epic spice. If you’re a fan of mm romance like RWRB and Him then this book is for you. I’m desperately hoping the author is planning a sequel- I need more backwards_cap and not_your_baby!!

No these people are insufferable. It’s 50 shades with more of point but not really. Gideon and Ava are two of the most unbearable people, and god damnit if I don’t love them for it. My god, the melodrama of NOTHINGNESS between these two. I could literally pick out the chapters in which they’d either be 1. Having sex 2. Arguing or 3. Expressing their undying love for each other despite the relationship being about a month old at this point. This is book 2 of 5 by the way- and I have no idea what more these two could possibly go through, but as a book masochist myself- I shall be reading. The title of the review is literally the only reason I’m making it through the series- Jill Redfield EATS AND LEAVES NO CRUMBS even though they’re feeding her literal trash that was inspired by garbage. Love you, Jill. Thank you for your service.

For the first time everI can’t give a Sarina Bowen hockey story more than 2 stars. This one just felt like a lot of meandering storylines between the two MC’s that just didn’t go anywhere. You can definitely tell this is a part in a larger universe as there are mentions of characters all over and I expect faithful readers would do that Leonardo DiCaprio meme when they recognized one of their fave characters from another book- but what it did to this book? Made it almost unbearably low stakes. Gavin and Hudson share an apartment building- would they caught? Nope. Turns out it’s pretty private. Gavin’s MIL is moving to NYC- no she isn’t the housing market in manhattan sucks. She’s trying to take custody of his daughter. No, she doesn’t, turns out she was in the wrong. Gavin is worried about Hudson and his dynamic working together- Nope. Turns out they just needed to have sex about it. Hudson’s dad had lied to him about being traded to Brooklyn bc he came out to his teammates- solved. Just fire dad and ghost him. Hudson ends up getting traded to Colorado and he and Gavin break up. Nope. They still love each other and Gavin was looking at jobs across country anyway. Like all of these plots would’ve been fine- but pick one. I have no idea why half these plot lines were in the book bc they went nowhere. I also don’t think it helps that both Gavin and Hudson are kind beige pillows of human beings. Oh I’m sorry- they’re hot beige pillows. Like Sarina just straight up forgot to write these guys a personality other than Hudson: I’m new here, and I’m secretly gay. And Gavin: I’m new here and I have a dead husband. I didn’t believe their romance blossoming the way it did- we were told more than shown moments where she could’ve added actual plot, like the stuff with Hudson’s dad or Hudson getting to know Jordan (other than when they had the flu- and that was a single chapter). I dunno. This one was just a slog to get through- No fault of the narrators though. Teddy Hamilton is always good and JF Harding did a really great job as well. I JUST WISH THIS WAS A BETTER BOOK.

I’m so so sorry, I’m sure Joel Froomkin is a wonderful person, but please stop giving him narrating jobs. Especially for characters who have accents. I’ve heard him do an Australian accent, a British one, and now whatever the eff this Boston/NY hybrid is- all with the same kind of William Shatner meets Woody Allen speaking style. It’s absolutely awful, not acted well, and it frankly sounds like he’s in pain sometimes when he speaks. Just stop it sir. Pleeeease just stop doing accents.

For a series with the double meaning of WAGS to also include dogs- there’s very little mention of them in this story. Like ok, I’m not just here for the dogs- but why try and connect the two names to one another? Anyway- small gripe in an otherwise very cute story. Riley is a big dumb sweetheart, and I rooted for him through the whole story. There’s a few lines written for him that are kinda cringe- but it doesn’t take away from his overall likes or character. As for Jessica or J-babe, she’s less endearing. Not that as a reader you don’t root for her but having to hear her inner monologue constantly putting herself down, only to have Riley be the one that makes her think better of herself is kinda lame. Jessica isn’t a loser, hasn’t been- but yet we get to stay with her most of the story just complaining how sucky she is- FFS- You shine on your own, girl. Also not complaining about the sex scenes- they were very well written, but I’m supposed to believe that true love was borne from about 3-4 trysts total. And the rest of the time saying how much it was a mistake to do that again? There wasn’t much deep interaction between the two before the moment they “love” each other so it kinda seems unearned IMO. But otherwise, read this for the ending to HIM/US (Wesmie forever!) and a very cute story about finding the person who understands the real person behind the public facade. Also there’s a dog…kinda

I absolutely adore this story from two of my favorite romance authors. I cared deeply for Wes and Jamie’s relationship from its shaky start to the HEA. They are both believable characters and have an easy friendship that’s just written so well. They are also sooooo HOT together. Phew! Big thumbs up to Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan for narrating the SHIT out of this story. They’re both amazingly talented voice actors. I’ve heard Both of them narrate other characters since this book- but they’ll always be Jamie and Wes to me. Highly recommend this novel for anyone looking to get into M/M romance, sports romance, or is just a fan of friends to lovers stories. This one is as sweet as can be.

Why was this “Him” but boring?

I have become a huge fan of M/M romances and especially a fan of Sarina Bowen’s writing- but this one was just kind of bland. Essentially I felt it’s the same story as “Him” also co-written by Bowen, but I didn’t care about Graham and Rikker the way I cared about Wes and Jamie- I think it may have to do with the fact that both characters aren’t that great? I felt like half the time I liked the supporting characters in this book more than the two MC’s. Teddy Hamilton and Christian Fox are perfection as always- though in my mind Hamilton would playing Graham instead of Rikker- but that’s just me. Anyway- Bella is cool, Gran is cool, Hartley is cool and I could read any book with them in it- the ending is smashed together for some reason and a plot introduced that I hope is its own story eventually? Otherwise I feel like the end conflict and Graham’s explanation of the near future literally came out of nowhere. I dunno- I was just overall bored by this one, and am writing this one off as a fluke to an otherwise great M/M romance writer. If anyone knows if there will be a sequel to this story- I’d love to hear about it.
