All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Best-selling author John Burke is no exception. In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets?

Is there credible proof that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? In The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and New York Times bestselling author, retraces his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith and builds a captivating case for Christ's divinity. In this revised and updated edition of The Case for Christ, Strobel cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools such as Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis, asking hard-hitting questions—and taking a deeper look at the evidence from the fields of science, philosophy, and history.

Excellent book. As someone who has recently come to Jesus this book strengthened my faith and gave me compelling arguments and a resource I can use to share with skeptics.

In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

Not since the atomic bomb has a technology so alarmed its inventors that they warned the world about its use. Not, that is, until the spring of 2015, when biologist Jennifer Doudna called for a worldwide moratorium on the use of the new gene-editing tool CRISPR - a revolutionary new technology that she helped create - to make heritable changes in human embryos.

Historia
If you follow the headlines, the world in the 21st century appears to be sinking into chaos, hatred and irrationality. Yet, as Steven Pinker shows, if you follow the trendlines, you discover that our lives have become longer, healthier, safer and more prosperous - not just in the West but worldwide. Such progress is no accident: it's the gift of a coherent value system that many of us embrace without even realising it. These are the values of the Enlightenment: of reason, science, humanism and progress.

Great Content - well researched
Revisado: 05-08-18
This was an enjoyable and informative audiobook.
My only issue was with the Steven's anti-Trump bias. Some of his criticisms were indeed justified. However when discussing creeping authoritarianism and war, there was no discussion of Barrack Obama or Hilary Clinton in their roles as war mongers in Syria or Libya. Their complete disregard for congressional approval in waging war against those sovereign nations was unconstitutional. Obama too was an Authoritarian. Steven's push back against populism is understandable, though how it was represented was biased in my opinion.
He also makes the case for cosmopolitanism and open societies while addressing the inherant totalitarianism and radicalism present within Islam. It would have been interesting to hear his thoughts on how a cosmopolitan and liberal society can co-exist with people who hold antithetical beleifs, and what should be done at a state level re immigration and how to deal with people who fail to integrate.
His criticism of Nietzche was interesting.
I enjoyed listening to his arguments for secular, humanist societies built around the philosophical universalisation of morals and ethics. His information re the reduction of crime and poverty in all countries, even the poorest and the increased life span enjoyed by all people was uplifting.
Other than the above criticisms I highly reccommend this audiobook. It was enjoyable, interesting and entertaining.

At a time when we need reasonable and empirical discussions more desperately than ever, The Art of the Argument smashes through the brain-eating fogs of sophistry and mental manipulation, illuminating a path to benevolent power for all who wish to take it.

Revisado: 11-10-17
This is the book that needed to be written. A clear and concise guide on how to have productive and clear discussions. It lays out philosophical discourse succinctly and was an absolute joy to listen to. Stefan is a brilliant orator and I have already listened to this book twice. Highly recommended.

Accurate but awful
Revisado: 10-30-17
Listening to this audiobook showed me the tools of leftism. These principles are how we in the West have been divided and degenerated into a society of immoral, identity political driven idiots. Saul Alinsky you were a c**t. It's sad your ideas survived when you died. I can't wait to see the new right take your principles and beat you at your awful game. My low rating stems from thr confronting nature of the information - he was clearly an intelligent man who used his smarts to damage all that is good and decent. Understanding and knowing this is how the culture war is faught is both saddening and awakening. Listen to this at your own peril. You might not like what you learn.

A perfect primer to economics, free markets and a an economic mythbuster re economic fallacies. it delves into rent control, free trade, interventionism, economic history, Keynesianism, classical economic theory, mercantilism, and the Chicago school of economic thought. I learned a lot and will definitely use this book as a reference guide in years to come. Definitely worth a listen.
