Historia
An amateur production of The Tempest provides a colorful backdrop for a hilarious look at unrequited love. Mathematics teacher Hector Mackilwraith, stirred and troubled by Shakespeare's play, falls in love with the beautiful Griselda Webster. When Griselda shows she has plans of her own, Hector despairs on the play's opening night.

Davies delivers, cover artist/editor fail!

Would you listen to Tempest-tost again? Why?
I am used to reading Davies and it took a bit for me to get the characters (names especially) straight in my head. Mr. Davidson is an outstanding narrator but I believe it impossible for one narrator to have voices different enough to make several male characters, similar in age, stand apart.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Tempest-tost?
The dialogue between Bridgetower and Greselda when they end their brief crush is classic Davies...funny, accurate, often giving me a touch of "I wish I'd said that" envy.

Historia
It's Dr. Kay Scarpetta's birthday, and she's about to head to Miami for a vacation with Benton Wesley, her FBI profiler husband, when she notices seven pennies on a wall behind their Cambridge house. Is this a kids' game? If so, why are all of the coins dated 1981 and so shiny they could be newly minted? Her cellphone rings, and Detective Pete Marino tells her there's been a homicide five minutes away. A high school music teacher has been shot with uncanny precision as he unloaded groceries from his car.

Second Best Yet
Revisado: 05-09-15
The narration was great, but I had to switch to print to follow a page or two of highly-technical weapon description.
The story was fast paced and interesting. The characters were both true to form and pushed to the limits of their own moral standards.
A great book, however The Body Farm is still my favorite of Scarpetta's learning experiences.

Historia
In 1954, in the cookhouse of a logging and sawmill settlement in northern New Hampshire, an anxious twelve-year-old boy mistakes the local constable’s girlfriend for a bear. Both the twelve-year-old and his father become fugitives, forced to run from Coos County–to Boston, to southern Vermont, to Toronto–pursued by the implacable constable. Their lone protector is a fiercely libertarian logger, once a river driver, who befriends them.

Irving delivers again
Revisado: 04-16-15
This story, told in Irving's inimitable voice, brings characters to life before readers' eyes and moves those characters through fascinating, unpredictable stories. Irving's stories unfold in a freeform fashion rather than being lock-stepped by overused literary techniques. Rare and much appreciated by this reader.

Good story & characters. The story moved along in an interesting way. Shamans, curses, family trechery... and JP finally drives his Porsche like it was meant to be driven.

Historia
Ruth Cole is a complex, often self-contradictory character — a "difficult" woman. Her story is told in three parts, each focusing on a crucial time in her life. When we first meet her, Ruth is only four. The second window into Ruth's life opens when she is an unmarried woman whose personal life is not nearly as successful as her literary career. The novel closes in the autumn of 1995, when Ruth is a 41-year-old widow and mother — and about to fall in love for the first time.

Captivating
Revisado: 01-17-15
I'm fairly new to Audible books and remain impressed with the way the narration maintains the images I create when I read the stories in print. This is my third Irving Audible book. The World According to Garp and Last Night in Twisted River were very good, too. The Cider House Rules is up next.

Good Story
Revisado: 01-05-15
I enjoy Mr. Engene's voice and style. He lends his voice to a detective I've "known" for years in an interesting, talented, and skilled manner.
Ms. Jance continues to create suspenseful, well-paced stories in which her self-aware characters find themselves challenged both personally and professionally.
