Historia
For cynical 23-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don’t exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can’t imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there’s certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures.

AMAZING BOOK

Jesus.
This book may be one of the best things I read in 2021. Casey McQuiston out did herself. Jane and August are incredibly complex, well rounded characters. Their little corner of NYC is such a robust place. Just... ugh. Read this book

Historia
Abby Stein was raised in a Hasidic Jewish community in Brooklyn, isolated in a culture that lives according to the laws and practices of 18th century Eastern Europe, speaking only Yiddish and Hebrew and shunning modern life. Stein was born as the first son in a dynastic rabbinical family, poised to become a leader of the next generation of Hasidic Jews. But Abby felt certain at a young age that she was a girl. She orchestrated a personal exodus from ultra-Orthodox manhood to mainstream femininity - a radical choice that forced her to leave her home, her family, her way of life.

Historia
In 1970, three-day-old Marra B. Gad was adopted by a white Jewish family in Chicago. For her parents, it was love at first sight - but they quickly realized the world wasn’t ready for a family like theirs. Marra’s biological mother was unwed, white, and Jewish, and her biological father was Black. While still a child, Marra came to realize that she was “a mixed-race, Jewish unicorn”. In Black spaces, she was not “Black enough” or told that it was okay to be Christian or Muslim but not Jewish.

Excellent Memoir
Revisado: 09-28-20
Highly reccomend this book. Marra's story is important, as it is one so many Jews of color face in one way or another. If you care about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Jewish community, and in the US as a whole, you should read or listen to this book

Loved it!
Revisado: 02-20-20
I found this voice performance to be the best of the series! I was brought into the story by the acting.
While I loved this story and it kept me on my toes, it was slightly predictable.
Overall it was a wonderful 3rd book!

Great Book to get you thinking
Revisado: 03-12-19
The Risk book is a very heavy book. It gets you to think about life. Took me a while to get through because of the gravity of certain stories, but this book is important enough to spejd a few weeks listening to on and off. Definitely recommend.
