I love this one!

This story is so much of everything I love, I can't recommend it enough times. Isekai! Respawner! Secret identity! Pretending to be weaker! Pretending to be stronger! Political shenanigans! Studying the magic system to figure out fun things!
I need more of this. Someone write more stories exactly like this one. The next book can't come soon enough, I don't think I've been this in love with a series debut since Way of Kings first came out.

Excellent all around

The saga continues, slowing down perhaps from the frantic pace of book one, but still with threads tangling and tension rising. Two or three of the scenes even managed to make me a little teary-eyed. Narrator does a great job of handling the flow and impact of the story. Already looking forward to the next one.

I liked the way he goes through different decks and gradually becomes more and more powerful. The different environments are also entertaining to read about. I look forward to listening to the sequel.

Hilarious DnD-style fun

I always love stories that pit genres against each other, and in this case it's an ancient DnD-litrpg lich waking up in a cultivation world after a many-centuries nap. Some of the voices and effects are a little distracting at times, but overall it was an excellent experience all around and I'll gladly pick up the next one

Fun new isekai litrpg

I quite enjoyed the story and narrator. The performance was highly enjoyable.

As other reviewers have mentioned, he does add an 'r' to the end of mana in some of the accents he does, but I didn't find it nearly as distracting as they made it sound. From what I could tell, he got it right now often than not.

I can also see why comparisons are being drawn to He Who Fights With Monsters, but apart from the basic power sets of the two main characters (mc shadow and bleed, the other fire lady) and some of the system terminology being very similar, it's a very different type of character and a different sort of world. It also does some very fun things with the basic setup.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next volume.

Decently entertaining jumble, Speedrun to OP

This story is part battlemage, part crafting and magic research, and part dungeon grind/base defense. Whichever part or parts interest you, be prepared for long, long sections of the others in between.

Personally, I liked the crafting and magic research segments, and kinda glazed over as the fights went on and on and on.

The progression felt off, so much power so fast, felt like a level up happened every two chapters despite the alleged requirements going up steeply several times. In this one book we went from levels requiring ten to fifteen xp, to hundreds of thousands, with no appreciable change in the MC's rate of advancement.

Setting aside my complaints, the story did have a fun setting, interesting class mechanics, and plenty of potential for the future. It's not a series I plan to actively continue, but I wouldn't hesitate to grab book two if it goes on sale.

Narration was excellent as expected. No complaints there.

Continues to be the adorable adventures of a complete fluff ball who wants to be everyone's friend and is somewhat oblivious. If that's your kind of story, this is your kind of story.

Delightfully dark time loop

While it may share some general trappings of common time loop stories, this one is definitely far from generic. Dark and twisty and not at all what I expected. Loved it! If the later books in the series hold up, it'll land in my top five loops for sure.

Wraps things up with a bang!

Probably one of my favorite system apocalypse stories yet, Viceroy's Pride has been a delight the whole way through. I know it's going to be a while until we get the second trilogy, but I already can't wait!
