Historia
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

Outstanding cast and an interesting story with twists
Revisado: 09-24-24
While the initial big draw for me was Glenn Powell as the narrator, that sells the story too short. Sure, Glenn is an excellent narrator, but the rest of the cast is also great, including a lot of cameos that will bring the story to life. The plot was interesting and fresh, taking a turn into male friendship that I would not have expected from a book that appeared to be just another romcom. Kudos to author Matthew Starr.
It would be wonderful if Audible would arrange for Glenn to narrate another novel. I definitely would pay for it!

I can’t believe how great the graphic audio version is!
Revisado: 07-19-24
I had tried to read the written version of this book and I started it three times before I finally made myself finish it. I didn’t think that the plot was anything special and frankly, I had forgotten most of it. And then I downloaded the graphic audio version, and it was superb! Personalizations were outstanding, especially Callie and Dizzy. While the written book did not make me want to go on, I just finished the GA version and after I submit this review, I’m going to buy the GA version of the second book. Do yourself a treat and grab this!

Historia
Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there's an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they're sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize. But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it isn't running within normal operational parameters.

Another satisfying Murderbot story!
Revisado: 11-15-23
The story starts out a little slow, because Murderbot is hiding something from us. However, once the story kicks into gear, it is nonstop action. Kevin are free does another terrific job as the voice of Murderbot. Murderbot changes and grows throughout the series; I can see that an early reviewer didn’t care for this increased vocal and tonal range, but to me, it just made it Murderbot more than ever like the complex character he is. I can’t imagine anyone else narrating this series. I can’t wait until the next one!

Book is great; narrator ruined it
Revisado: 10-19-23
I have bought every single thing that Ilona Andrew has published, and when steals edge went on sale, I thought I would try the Audible version. Ugh. Renee Raudman is really bad. She constantly mispronounces a key character’s name, completely dragging me out of the story to mentally correct it each time. Why, oh, why don’t narrators bother to get basic pronunciation guides before they take their contract? She also has a creaky quavery voice that doesn’t fit this fast-paced adventure story. I gave up in chapter 1 the first time I got it, and I should have just returned it then, but because I love the Andrews’ books so much, I gave it a second shot and grimly made it all the way through, but I will, never, ever buy a book with this narrator again. Two thumbs down. Buy the Kindle version and read it yourself. The books themselves are great.

On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

Another hit from Will!
Revisado: 08-23-23
I really liked the Cradle series because I thought it was fresh and interesting. I also liked the fact that there were strong female characters. I wasn’t sure what to expect from The Vaptain, but I found it equally absorbing right from the beginning, and I also enjoyed very much Travis Baldree’s voice narration. They are an outstanding team.
Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Then the dragons had to rise up from their thousand-year slumber, take over Earth and ruin everything. Twenty years later, Birdie is living her worst life in her hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, working at her father's Seed and Feed (and Bagels). Then, a mysterious dragon appears in front of the store seeking her help. He’s got a bone to pick with his fellow dragons–and he wants to hit them where it hurts.

Another fun, funny, masterpiece from Alexander C. Kane
Revisado: 04-30-23
It is a lot harder to write comedy than drama, but Alexander Secane has a deft touch and hits it out of the ballpark each time. I particularly enjoyed the audio version with narrator Kristine Hvam deftly interpreting each character. I listened to this, and just a couple of days, then went back, and re-listened to his Orlando People series, and came back and listen to this one again. I can’t decide which sequel. I am anticipating the most: Orlando People, or Dragon Heist. I just know that whatever he writes is an automatic buy for me.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series, particularly the audible, graphic novel version with the full cast. His narrator is fine, I was just spoiled by hearing the other one, who has a rich, Scottish accent, first. However, the story on this one is not great. It’s incredibly slow for the large part of the book And ends on a cliffhanger. It’s now been over a year since this was published, and I can’t find any clue as to a potential fourth book, so this may be a whole series that ends on a cliffhanger. I don’t know, it was kind of dull. Definitely would recommend the first two books though.

Life is complicated. I mean, life has always been complicated, but there's a difference between monsters-are-trying-to-kill-you complications and monsters-are-in-love-with-you complications. I'm still not sure which is more dangerous. G'day. I'm Pet. Two-thirds of a pet, anyway: The vampire isn't claiming ownership these days, but he's definitely encroaching. On the list of other encroaching complications is the threat of heirling trials, a certain fae lord, and a mysterious librarian - not to mention the thing that's killing people on Hobart's waterfront....

As soon as I’m done with one book, I pick up the next. While I was get the e-book as well as the audible, I probably follow along with the audible version almost all the time. The narrator is terrific. The plot is just so twisty! Highly recommend, but only if you have read the others in the series first.
