Ashe, a child of five years, woke to screams of his fellow villagers and animal growls. Terrified, he asked what was going on, but his mother grabbed him and fled their village with his father in hopes to escape the lizardmen that were raiding it.

They weren't fast enough. After a plan was made up to split up and meet in a cave not too far away, Ashe's mother rushed towards that direction. Ashe felt better because they were losing the lizardmen, but she tripped and found that her ankle was at an odd angle. His mother cried out for Ashe to leave her as she couldn't continue on, but he was defiant to her pleads. He finally obeyed his mother and fled as fast and as far as his little legs could carry him, but he wasn't fast enough.

Ashe is saved and brought to another world by The Goddess of Light's High Priestess and her knights. He ends up with a new name, new identity, and a new family.

This is a story that has magic, sword and sorcery, and some litrpg elements, but is definitely not heavy with it.

I was a little iffy at first but man am I glad I stuck with it! Xander continues to blow me away by the depth he can spin his lore and build the worlds in his books! The story is only lightly litrpg with it being the background and rarely checked as time goes on. It reminds me of Valens Legacy and Binding Words. The stats is just checked from time to time.
The main aspects I kind of had issues with was the slightly passivity that the MC began to display. Hope it changes in the next. It could just be that the MC is just growing into a position of power and strength as he grows in maturity. I am hoping the next audiobook goes up with Royal Guard soon!

This is a great story of an OP kid that's a mage.

I've enjoyed this author but I have to say this is the best book so far.I really hope there's the next volume to this series

During long stretches of this book, it was like my grandmother was reading to me. There were so little dialogue. It was just one long narration. The beginning was interesting. The ending was excellent, but the middle was a slog fest. Oh, and did I mention the male narrator was terrible.

This book was another excellent book by the author. The characters are well developed. The story is intriguing and well written. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Good story, but the narration is a little stiff. The characters sounded like they were reading from a script instead of using natural speech.
