Books has settled the Smoky Mountains following the events of the Territory Wars. His freehold doesn't have much worth trading that neighboring settlements need, but he and many other inhabitants don't necessarily consider this a bad thing. The forces of Washington DC under Commodore Antony Kraemer have launched the reclamation of the Reformed United States of America. They've sent envoys to the major freeholders with the message that they are expected to rejoin the union—or else.

Most Freeholders see Kraemer as just another warlord, intending to resist with violence. And while Books' new pacifist path may work for him, war is coming.

book was good thr beginning is dark so much happened to David it's crazy. but would definitely recommend if you get upset by how violent humans can be you might want to skip.

It’s a departure from the world created in 1-4. I like the story, my only complaint about this book is parts of it felt unexplored or maybe just unexplained. I’m hopeful that the follow up story will tie things together a bit more.

I don’t know how, but this series continues to keep me guessing and skipping sleep to get through just a little bit more. R C Bray is a voice acting genius. And the story! I did NOT expect it to take a turn so quickly and so incredibly to the left! I was shocked when it was over. Already? But what next?! Can’t wait for book 8!

I really enjoy how the story is continuing and the different time span’s let you know that there’s more in between that is yet to be told. Great to see Jake back. This book went by way too fast, needing more and wanting more. There’s so much left to go. Hoping to see what has hired in between these time spans as well. Great great book. Commune is probably my favorite series of all.

I feel like I'm Books son... I love the writing as much as I love the narrator.. they go together like cocain and waffles . (ALL JOKES ASIDE, ITS AMAZING) never listen to the naysayers.. keep being you, its working out flawlessly.. can't wait for the next book.

This series stands out with its character focus and witty dialogue spoken into our ears by the amazing RC Bray. The post apocalypse adventures continue and do not disappoint. Emotion and vivid realism make this book one more banger for the collection.
