Acerca de esta escucha

When the sky rips open somewhere over Dover, two objects hurtle out of the Vortex and crash-land in the sea. One is the TARDIS, out of control and freefalling - but the other, a mysterious crystalline sphere, is far more sinister...

The Doctor and Donna are rescued and taken to a secret command centre in the Dover cliffs. It's May 1940, and Vice-Admiral Ramsey is about to finalise one of the most daring plans of the Second World War: Operation Dynamo. But something else has got inside the War Tunnels, a parasitic Nemonite from the crashed sphere. Its aim is to possess all humans and spawn millions of young.

The Doctor and Donna must fight for their lives in order to save both Operation Dynamo and the world at large ...

The narration was absolutely fantastic and brilliant. For me, it captured the whole essence of the Doctor and Donna noble as played in the tv series itself. In short, loved it, loved it, totally loved it.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Most of the doctor who books are god-awful. This story line, however, is somewhat interesting and catherine tate is the reader which is such a treat to listen to her play Donna in the book.

Not bad for a Dr. Who Book

A another great Doctor Who story. Catherine Tate did a great job narrating. 10 and Donna are still a great team. Wish they had more adventures together.

Great story.

This is like a lost episode for season 4. The Nemonite Invasion has it all. Besides being an interesting story, with lots of well developed characters, it is decidedly creepy and suspenseful. Catherine Tate can really bring any character to life --especially the Doctor. Donna is quirky as usual. The Doctor's personality is spot on -- I could imagine it all in my mind. Without giving away the plot, the story flows through a series of events that will make you laugh, shiver, and maybe even cry.

It's a must read, my favorite of all things Dr. Who.

It rocks!

Written Donna read by the voice of Donna is an improvement on what I've been coming across. Donna seems to be a hard character to write for, because I really haven't come across any Donna story that is as accurate as television Donna. They cover her harsh snarky side, but very few are able to capture her kind compassionate side. This piece does fairly well.
It sounds better, of course, when it's read by Catherine Tate, although I don't like her Doctor voice as well as some others'. Kind of reminds me of the DoctorDonna at the end of season 4, and we all know what happened then.
Also, what is it with these authors choosing insect-like aliens. It's just gross. That, and parasites sticking appendages in the backs of people's necks. Ew.

Improving

I'm not a huge fan of this time period in Doctor Who stories; it's too recent to be a rare Doctor Who historical, has too much grit and grime of war, but is not yet futuristic enough to have a lot of science fiction. Old earth technology and aliens mix it up. So I didn't have huge hopes going into this story.

The story itself was better than I was hoping, and kept my attention pretty well. A good part of that, however, has to be credited to Catherine Tate (Donna Noble)and her reading. She does a great job of bringing the story to life, and helping the story to flow without being jarring or breaking. It was also nice to have a new series companion for the Doctor that wasn't (and obviously wasn't) head-over-heels in love with him.

If you enjoy WWII, submarines, recent history, war and the Doctor, you'll likely enjoy this audio. If you liked the setting and feel of The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, you'll likely enjoy this audio. If you want to have a complete collection of Doctor Who stories, you probably want this audio. If Donna Noble is your favorite companion, you probably want this audio. If you enjoy spaceships, time travel paradoxes, and other planets, you might want to try another story before you catch this one.

Ok Story, Great Narration in this Audio-Exclusive

Any additional comments?

The story was haphazard, rife with hyperbole, and contained an absolutely unnecessary love-interest secondary story for Donna which, frankly, ruined the entire thing for me. The one redeeming element of the whole thing was Catherin Tate's performance because she is a brilliant character actress.

Listen for her deft usage of accent and characterization. The story is pale by comparison.

Great narrator hampered by so-so story....

Love Catherine Tate, truly. But she was off her game. I've listened to her read other Audio books and they were quite good.

Maybe it was the story, it was poorly constructed and it was a tedious affair to get through.

If you like gore add a star to the story.

I wish I had listened to the critical reviewers.

Skip this story

I've read and listened to quite a few 10th Doctor stories now and all of them were enjoyable to some extent. Until this one. This story was just too stupid. The alien menace was fine, but the additional plot elements concerning one of the British officers and Donna's instant romance (which are two separate implausible and uninteresting plot elements) were extremely annoying. And the speech the Doctor delivers to Donna at the end was out of character and cringe-inducing. There were no fun "Doctor moments" to make this worthwhile. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because it is a 10th Doctor Adventure and I'm determined to experience all of them.

First one I haven't liked
