Phil Ward has a great ability to meld historical facts with a compelling story. As a former military officer, I enjoy the way he delves into tactics. However, the reader does not have to have a military background to enjoy this series. The characters are well developed and interesting to follow throughout the series.

Consistently amusing and entertaining fictional history. Only one star minus for the drum rolls and female narrator which even 5 books later still irritate.
