I couldn't put this book down I went through the whole book in 1 sitting. Fun characters great story and the versatility of the MC just kept you wanting more. Can't wait till book 2 comes to audio.

reminds me of harry Potter as far as the story telling style as this is the MC's first year in magic school with a mystery involved

I love academy books and this one is fresh and stands out above the rest. The world building and characters kept me listening. Can’t wait for book 2

great start to a new series. highly recommend a very fun adventure you want regret this series . I bought book two before I even finished this one

Great storytelling and the foreshadowing is well done in my opinion. For sure going to continue with this series.

Had a lot of potential, but the dialogue was pretty obnoxious.

There was too much maniacally systemic persecution of the main character, to the point that it strained credibility.

Combining those points. People would constantly berate the MC with nonsensical claims and it just gets treated like it's perfectly logical.

About 2/3 through the book I realized I didn't care enough to finish the book.

Great book, great narrator, excited to see where this story goes. So far so good, please keep writing!

I liked it, fun world

I didn't really have a lot of expectations of this book, but it was overall a good experience that I could easily recommend to younger teens to get them into fantasy. It is simple and somewhat unimaginative, but it hits the core points of the fantasy genre really well.

as for the narrator, he was competent but somewhat lacking. He has a very monotone voice and he doesn't seem to express the characters very well. His accents are generally pretty weak and inconsistent, and when he uses a voice for a female character, they all kind of sound the same minus the ones he gives a Scottish accent.
beyond that, he sometimes messes up words, but it isn't that huge of a deal--I just thought I'd mention it.

I'm unsure if I'll continue the series because I don't think I'm the correct audience. Although I love the idea of the plot, the sausage scene really drove home what audience it is trying to entertain.

I honestly would give this book a better score if it wasn't because of the constant repetition of the main character stat sheet and skills and the end of every single chapter. Every 18 min or so you get to hear the same useless information over and over for the hole 50+ chapters on the book. 30min in total of what seems to me as filler
