Redefining Mathematical Instruction

I enjoyed the book and am glad I listened to it, but I don’t feel like I have anything more to help me with teaching math than I did before. If there were a curriculum or supplement that I could buy based on this I would. But as it is, it’s not very helpful for our homeschool. I don’t have the ability to teach in the way she describes because I honestly don’t understand higher level math concepts myself. I just don’t get it, so without a guide or curriculum I wouldn’t have a clue how to teach it. It did help me to have a better mindset about math in general though.

Everything about this book is excellent. Working on a plan to adapt this information to my daughter's public school curriculum. Next read is mindset mathematics grade 8.

It's a great book

Aside from the very minor audio discrepancies(audio quality shifted from time to time), this book is an informative read and a good resource for aspiring and current math teachers. Most books that delve in societal shifts have a heavy emphasis on equity and social change, but the usage of equity and inclusion was efective, logical and easy to understand in addition to not being the main focus of the book.

Among the goal of guiding every student to find their own passion for mathematics, I can get behind the concepts shared in this book and hope to use them as an educator. I feel an even greater appreciation for the fact that multiple topics discussed hereran parallel to a number of concepts researched and tested by authors not directly cited within this text.

Well researched and in-depth

I’ve been a Maths and Science tutor for many years, but have just started my teacher training for classroom teaching. This book has given me so many ideas and links to resources, that I’m looking forward to trying during my teaching placement. Very glad I have access to a copy via my University library though as the only down point of this version is the read out urls and the inability to see the referenced pictures.

i enjoyed hearing a summary of NCTM beliefs about learning, some a bit unrealustic, though.

As a math coach - everything about this book is YES YES YES! But then the practical side of me says HOW? I’m just one person. But I will do my best to spread the word to change the world! Thanks for reigniting my passion around these beliefs!

I listened to this on my bus trip to a local campus, where I was taking my last class for my degree, a math class and I had not taken math in a long time. This helped me contemplate the subject on a deeper level and appreciate it more. I highly recommend for any math students and teachers
