A gripping murder mystery from bestselling author T.A. Williams

A glamorous film star…

Life as a private investigator in the suburbs of Florence isn’t always as glamorous as Dan Armstrong imagined it to be, until he is asked to investigate a recent spate of violent attacks on a Hollywood movie set in Florence. The star of the show, movie-star royalty Selena Gardner, fears her life is in imminent danger…

Foul play on set…

As Dan investigates, he discovers secrets and scandals are rife within the cast and crew. But with no actual murder, Dan believes these attacks could simply be warnings to someone…until the first body is found.

A dangerous killer on the loose.

Now Dan and his trusty sidekick Oscar are in a race against time to catch the murderer. But the more Dan uncovers, the more the killer strikes and Dan finds himself caught in the line of fire too! Is this one case Dan and Oscar will regret?

Another instalment in bestselling author T. A. Williams' Armstrong and Oscar cozy mystery series!

I listened to the Audible version of the first book of the series: Murder in Tuscany, and I was hooked. Upon completion, I bought the next one: Murder in Chianti, then moved right onto the last in the series (so far): Murder in Florence.
Not only are the stories engaging, the main character, Dan Armstrong and dog Oscar, are developed to the point that you like being with them. The feeling of the Tuscany environment is a pleasant backdrop and gives a good sense of atmosphere.
The narrator, Simon Mattacks, is so excellent. His soothing voice doesn’t grate, he doesn’t try to over-embellish and what mastery of accents! He can voice any accent well and does so throughout the books so that it gives the listener the feeling of multiple characters from different regions around the globe. Very enjoyable.
I’d like to tie the author to his computer churning out more Tuscany mysteries with Armstrong and Oscar. Am not looking forward to the gap ahead until the next one comes out.

Story enhanced by superior narrator

I really think this is a step above what is usually considered a cozy. The writing is outstanding. We need another category to describe what I believe to be a classic mystery. There is nothing silly about these books. Armstrong works well with the local police. How refreshing, we are not burdened with heavy baggage of personal problems. These books could be played on a long car trip with young family members in the car.

So glad I found this series

I preferred the first and second books of his series. Descriptions on Italy and surroundings are excellent.

Fun story Italian mystery.

Love the narrator, the story, the setting, and characters. Oscar is a lab with a knack for being a dog who does doggy things at the right—as well as the wrong—moments. I enjoy the writer’s humor, and how he keeps the series plot going while each book plays out.

Great balance between character development and action!

I recently discovered this series and I love Simon Mattack’s performance. His voice pulls me in, the story entertains and each title seems to speed by. I am never bored and dont hesitate to use a credit for each new release. I am looking forward to listening to the next.

Great performance, I am loving this series

Great book to listen to. Hope many more follow. Good characters with just enough description and background, but the emphasis is on the actual story.

Dan Armstrong retired after 30 years in the Murder Squad where his "pals" gave him the "gift" of a writers' retreat in Tuscany. Since then, he has become divorced, settled in to stay, made friends with some men in the local Polizia, adopted a Black Lab (Oscar), and written a mystery that's ready for publication.
Now he's been recommended to look into threats being made via crossbow bolt to the crew of a film company who has plans to film on location for a few weeks. It's certainly unusual, especially since he has to dress in tights and doublet all day! Things escalate until there is an actual murder. While this is a cozy mystery, it is also something of a procedural because of personal involvement with the Polizia.
Fun, twisty, surprising, and definitely unputdownable! Great characters, good worldbuilding, very relatable. There is also a simple delineation of the policing branches in Italy that I never found clarified by Andrea Camilleri.
Simon Mattacks is the voice actor who is great at interpreting the characters.

Loved it!

I thought the characters were very well developed and continued to grow as the story progressed. I’ve never been to Italy although the marvelous descriptions have thoroughly intrigued me to place it at the top of my wishlist. I realize this is a work of fiction however there is usually a great deal of research contained in most well written novels such as this novel. A few well placed twists kept me interested to the very end. I think anyone would enjoy this mystery.

Excellence storyline

First two books were much better. This 3rd book was a bit silly. Predictable and trite. Falling into the overly cozy and too frivolous category. Running around in renaissance costuming? Hollywood siren wants to play in movie from his not yet published book? Director makes special scene for his heroism? Too much.

Just finished 3rd book
