St. Alphonsus Liguori (1696 - 1787) was an Italian bishop famous for his moral teaching. Initially, he practiced law, but was drawn to the religious life and became a priest in the Catholic church. He ministered as a missionary to the poor, setting up "evening chapels". He would later form his own congregation and then be appointed as bishop. He wrote many famous sermons, meditations, and ascetical works. His meditations are still used today for the stations of the cross during Lent.
This particular book offers a sobering insight into the inevitable prospect of death. A timeless classic that will help any Christian take their life and faith more seriously with an eye to their end.

I own this book at home and I’ve read the whole thing, after every point there is an intercessory prayer to the blessed Mother , THEY REMOVED ALL OF THEM. So they removed over about 100 prayers
They also removed at least two chapters, one how the power of intercession to the Blessed Mother and another on the Blessed Sacrament.
They also cut out what they said are Apocryphal writings or quotes.
I was so happy when I saw this on audible and whoever did this destroyed it , they tried to Protestant-ize it and it failed because St Alphonsus is devoutly Catholic and it drips from his writings.
The narration is excellent, and it is still a profitable read , i listened to the whole thing , but the cover picture is a lie and it a an abridged work and even worse it’s abridged to be less Catholic. Who takes one of the most Catholic books and does that.
St Alphonsus would not be happy about this at all
I hope this is remade or replaced with the actual unabridged work.
I’ll be returning my credit on this one
It’s not unabridged
