Maggie and Grady had been friends when they were younger. But she was dating his brother and things happened, which led to them becoming enemies.

It took me a while to like Grady. He was charming, for sure, but he constantly blamed Maggie for everything that went wrong.

The two of them had a complicated and messy past. But the connection between them never truly faded.

This was angsty and emotional. My heart broke for Maggie. She was strong and always doing her best to help those around her. And when she went through something devastating? Well, that was when Grady finally realized what was important.



Narration Style: Dual

These two did a great job bringing the story and characters to life.

Well, that was a ridiculously good time in my ears!! 👏👏👏👏 This small-town romance is everything a romance fiction should be. The characters had chemistry that built as the relationship grew. They were antagonistic but in the best possible way with excellent wit and banter. The story mirrored life with its ups and downs which made it that much more enjoyable for me. I am 100% behind realistic fiction. I like the good to come with the bad because life, no matter how you try and spin it, is grey. It’s never heartwarming without a little bit of heartbreak. It’s never emotional without a little bit of comedic relief. It’s never just about the MCs but the community as a whole that surrounds them, which makes secondary characters very important and, in this case, I loved them all! This is my first experience with this author, and I want more!

Corvin King & Charlotte North added something special with their performance. Thru them I was able to vividly “see” the story unfold and that’s something that is very important for me when I listen to an audio. However, Corvin King has a very distinctive tone to his voice and that particular tone does not translate well into a female tone. Feel me? He’s the narrator you want in duet performances, not dual performances, but he’s great in all other aspects.

This was my first experience with this author, and I hope to be able to listen to more of this series in the future!

Charlotte North and Corvin King were the absolute perfect casting for this book. They did such an amazing job at bringing not only Maggie and Grady to life but also all the side characters. Their narration honestly made me like the story even more than I did when I read it last year when it first came out. I would also like to point out that Charlotte has one of the best male voices I've heard so far.

Grady and Maggie have a complicated history filled with secrets and heartbreak. After years of not seeing each other, they find themselves rivals for the position of mayor of the small town where they both grew up. During the electoral race, Maggie and Grady realize that the connection they have is far greater than anything that happened in the past to drive them apart.

One of the things I really loved about this story was the level of loyalty in Maggie and Trent's friendship, even with Trent being Grady's brother. I also enjoyed how the author showed us how one bad assumption can destroy the strongest of friendships, and how the path to forgiveness is not always an easy one.

“I choose you. Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be.”

Maggie is the Mayor and a pharmicist her life is set until her past come back and she has to own her truth about what really happen with Trent and the blame Grady has put on her when it was Trent fault
Grady has always hate Maggie for what happen to his brother even though Trent took responsibility for his actions so when the election come around Grady put his name on the ballot for mayor. it seems like every disaster is happening and Grady is there for the rescue.
Their is chemistry and lots of banter between the character

Corvin King and Charlotte North’s wonderful narration brought this heart wrenching small town romance to life. Grady and Maggie’s second chance enemies to lovers tale felt like a three car pileup of emotions. It was packed full of miscommunication and misunderstandings and at times so frustrating I wanted to reach in and shake some sense into them both. There were parts of the story that hit close to home and had me reaching for a box of Kleenex.

This was my first experience with this author's work, and it was entertaining. I liked how the story started out light but then turned into a complex story between the protagonists and their families. I was amused by Grady's desire to cause complications in Maggie's life. I liked how strong and driven Maggie was. I enjoyed Corvin King's and Charlotte North's dual narrations as their performances added to my enjoyment of the story. I was given an advanced listener's free copy of the audiobook through Home Cooked Books. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
