Acerca de esta escucha

"The infusion of social justice into the gospel may well be the most dangerous problem facing the church today. Yet, it is going unnoticed in far too many circles. Social Justice Goes to Church can serve as a wake-up call." (Samuel C. Smith, PhD, chair and graduate program director, Department of History, Liberty University)

In order to understand why so many evangelicals recently support left-leaning political causes, it is important to know a little history.

In the 1970s, many campus radicals raised in Christian homes brought neo-Marxist ideas from college back to church with them. At first, figures like Jim Wallis, Ron Sider, and Richard Mouw made great gains for their progressive evangelical cause. But, after the defeat of Jimmy Carter, the religious right stole the headlines.

Today, a new crop of mainstream evangelicals has taken up the cause of the New Left, whether they know it or not. As pro-life evangelicals rush to support movements like #BlackLivesMatter and #MeToo, it is important to realize they are walking in footprints already laid down. Their mission may be more successful, but it is not new. To understand where the evangelical social justice movement is heading, it is vital to understand the origins of the movement.

Social Justice Goes to Church: The New Left in Modern American Evangelicalism answers, from a historical perspective, the vital question, "Why are American evangelicals moving left?"

It gave me a good starting point in understanding the background of the infiltration of the social justice movement within Evangelism.

This book is a sound introduction to this topic

Harris lays out the history of the progressive false gospel and the inspiration it takes from Marxism. Knowing where the enemies of the true Gospel get their ideas helps in identifying their theological errors and the evil consequences of their deception.

A great book to learn about the history of how the social justice movement worked it's way into modern churches and denominations. A lot of the key players in the movement are addressed.

Jon does an excellent job of tracing and presenting the history of the Social Justice movement in the church. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to understand where Social justice came from in the church.

Great Book!

Very detailed about particular people and their contributions to the current consensus. I recommend particular to Christian's in their forties and fifties. Younger people may just not recognize the names and institutions mentioned.

The narrator seemed to be racing at times. otherwise very pleasant performance.

Well worth the listen or read. the book gives such good information in a well organized easy to understand way. if you want to know more about social justice in the church as it is today (2021) this is it. you will get a good sense of the "how" we got here in a historical progression.

I never knew the historical context and people behind the social justice movement in the church. This is an eye opening book and explains much of what is happening in mainstream denominations today.

This book is excellent if you are curious as to the origins of left-wing christianity in the United States. I think it needed one more chapter to really hammer down the ‘so what’ aspect of the issue, but overall I learned a lot from Harris’ research and presentation.

Wonderful, to the point
