I first read this book back in the 1970s and absolutely loved it. I have reread it several times and it will always be a favorite. When I learned it was coming out in audible format I was so excited but concerned that the narration would not be good. But it was great! I bought several other of the audiobooks by this author now to listen to and I hope you will all enjoy them as well.

They did this audio book justice

As a southerner, I was greatly offended by the southern accents. Egregious. Hard to get through a well-loved classic because of narration.

I loved filling the love story of the Birmingham’s. The historical setting makes this books a wonderful historical romance… highly recommended

The story line was very good, it had suspense, action, love, and strength of the main characters.

I read this back in 1972 when it first came out and it opened a whole new world for me. Back in the day, we called them “bodice busters”.

But it was so different than the regency romances. This was a great story — the narrator was great, and the story has withstood the test of time. Although the story contains certain themes considered reprehensible, yet the way it is written the reader knows there is a happily ever after.

I first read this book in 1972, I fell in love with Heather& Brandon all those years ago & have re- read this book many times. The joy of now listening to my favorite book was pure bliss. The performance was perfection.
