When Jaicey was fifteen, her entire world changed in the blink of an eye. Problem is, she doesn’t know it. She doesn’t know what happened or why the mirrors in her house have all disappeared, but she knows something isn’t right. She knows she doesn’t feel safe.
When Brayden transfers to Jaicey’s high school, he challenges Jaicey in a way she’s never been challenged before. Pushing past her boundaries and fears, Brayden tries to help her discover the truth about the night that’s been ripped from her memory.
But the closer and closer Jaicey gets to the truth, the more danger she’s in. A threat from her past is still lurking, and if she doesn’t know her enemy’s face, how can she protect herself?

This review will contain spoilers. I usually don't like to do that, but I want you to know what you're getting into before you waste a credit on this book. Okay, you've been warned....
First of all, this book was completely ridiculous from the beginning when this "random" guy started pestering Jaycee from day one. So to give some back story, something traumatic happened to Jaycee, and she had no memory of her friends or past relationships. She's afraid of everything and everyone, and she doesn't like to be touched. Yet here comes the new kid at school who nobody knows, who proceeds to pretty much stalk her. She made it clear from the beginning that she was not interested AT ALL, yet he persisted. He kept telling her he liked her, even though she had to be downright mean for him to get the message. Even after being told off, he continued to pursue her. Red flag #1. Any normal guy would have moved on instead of wasting so much time and energy on a girl he supposedly didn't even know.
Secondly, for someone who was supposedly so mistrusting of people in general, why on earth would she put her trust into a guy she didn't know over her friends who she knows she went to school with for years? Not to mention this was the "new guy" who nobody knew, and who was stalking her- to the point of showing up waiting for her in the hospital parking lot after they rushed her father there the night before. He comes up with this lame story, and she believes him. Red flag #2.
Third of all, this guy who persistently pushed his way into her life never gave a straight answer to any question he was asked. He dodged every question, and never made any sense. Even Jaycee knew things weren't adding up, yet she continued to trust him... fiercely. Red flag #3.
Next, there was a part in the story that gave me "House at the End of the Street" vibes when this new guy went ballistic and proceeded to kick the crap out of Jaycee's ex-boyfriend. Jaycee even admitted to seeing rage in this guy's eyes, and then he proceeded to not talk to her for a few days, as if he were blaming her for the ex-boyfriend's actions, yet she STILL made excuses for him. "He was just trying to protect me." PUH-LEEZ! Red flag #4.
In addition to all this nonsense, this guy was ALWAYS making Jaycee uncomfortable. From forcing her to drive when she didn't want to, to showing up in her nightmares with a knife, to taking her on a crazy scavenger hunt in a dark, deserted town that scared the begeezus out of her. Yet she STILL trusted him and even (vomit) fell in love with him somehow. Absolutely absurd and ridiculous! Red flag #5.
Now, all that said, I kept thinking to myself that this stalker boy was obviously the bad guy. Then I would second-guess myself thinking, "Would the author make it that obvious? She has to be just trying to throw us off track by making him a red herring." But nope! He was the bad guy all along, and his actions and attitude made it blaringly obvious from Day One. Very juvenile writing, in my opinion.
Now fast forward to when she finally remembers what happened to her. He attacks her and rips her prom gown, exposing a long scar she has on her leg. The scar suddenly made her memories flood back to her. Okay, so she hasn't seen the scar up to this point? I know there are no mirrors in the house, but are we to believe that she never saw the scar on her leg while showering or dressing? Another problem with this traumatic event.... she and her best friend were kept in a basement with no food or water for five days. Yet, when she resolved to live so she could get her best friend out of there, she suddenly had enough strength to overpower her kidnapper. THEN.... when she ran from the building in terror, she FORGOT her best friend and had to go back!! WHAT?? Wasn't it saving her friend that supposedly gave her enough adrenalin to escape? Then she's just going to forget about her? DID NOT MAKE SENSE.
The icing on the cake? This best friend was supposedly in a coma for three years, and before Jaycee leaves the hospital after her second attack, she goes to see her friend. This friend's parents were keeping their daughter alive until Jaycee made peace with what happened and then gave them the go-ahead to "let her go." Um, I don't think so. First of all, would they even LET someone just take up a hospital room for three years knowing that there was never a chance of her waking from the coma? Second of all, as a mother, there is no way in H-E- double hockey sticks I would keep my child alive with machines while I waited for her friend to regain her memory and give me permission to take her off the machines. Just absolutely ludicrous.
I hated this book from beginning to end, and the only reason I stuck it out is because I had already given up on the book I started prior to this one because I was having trouble getting into it. I kept hoping this one would get better as it went along, but unfortunately, it kept getting worse and worse. Do not waste a credit on this. I basically just gave you the whole story.
Annoying, Predictable, Completely too Far-Fetched
