This book is centered around the fort and the usual gang don't really feature. But don't be put off. It expands on characters less known and opens up some intriguing new aspects. You will not be disappointed even if I wish the books hadn't become shorter.

1st class entertainment as always

This featured Lilly and crew back at the fort and Howie and his gang were essentially non existent in this book. That wasn't necessarily a problem for me, but if you are a big fan of the main crew then this book will put you off.

Without giving away any spoilers, what ruined this book for me is that the end of this book went off the deep end into a full on feminist power fantasy. There wasn't even an attempt to justify it (i.e. enhanced abilities due to the infection). It's like that part was written by a hormonal teenage girl angry at the world. It was sad and pathetic. And it totally overshadowed the bombshell that was dropped at the very end.

Unfortunately parts of the story revealed here appear to be critical to the overall narrative, so skipping this dud of a book will likely leave you missing key elements going forward in the series.

On the bright side, Joe Jameson did an awesome job narrating this book.

Disappointing
