Acerca de esta escucha

A 30-year-old death haunts Alan Nesbitt, former Chief Constable in Cornwall. Back in 1968, a beautiful 20-year-old girl was found dead on the rocks, presumably having jumped from the cliffs. All that was known about her was her age, that she had had a child six months earlier, and that she weighed about ninety pounds. Nesbitt got nowhere with the investigation, and he regrets it. Fortunately, he is now married to sleuth Dorothy Martin, who gets on the case directly. Only a few days later, a model she's just met meets a similar end, and the parallels between the two cases begin to add up. The drug dealing and smuggling that are Penzance's heritage as a coastal maritime town play a part.©2001 Jeanne M. Dams (P)2002 Books on Tape, Inc. Reseñas de la Crítica

"The tightly constructed plot contains enough twists to keep the reader wondering." (Publishers Weekly)

I enjoyed the story set in Penzance with a hint of smuggling. Dorothy Martin and her retired policeman do it again - find the bad guys and set things right. Yay!

Sad but satisfying mystery

This was my second purchase of a Jeanne M. Dams "Dorothy Martin" story. I enjoyed this book even more than the first one.
Alan Nesbitt is a retired police officer. His wife Dorothy Martin is an amateur sleuth. When solving a mystery, Alan tends to be more logical, Dorothy a little more intuitive and emotional. They balance each other nicely. I found them both very likeable characters.
The story is set in scenic Cornwall, England. The plot is complex enough to be interesting. The pace of the story is brisk.
There is no excessive violence or crude language.
Reader Kate Reading does an excellent job.
If you are looking for an entertaining mystery that won't give you nightmares, this is a good choice.

Great "Cozy" Mystery

I struggled to finish this story. The narrator does a good job switching between accents however the American accent is almost Pollyanna type. It contributed to the story being less believable. Also, the conclusion of a story is way too loose and is as if the author wasn't able to tie it up while. This is the second book I've listened to but won't be listening to anymore by this author.
