I couldn’t stop listening to the story, smiling, frowning and feeling all the feels in this amazingly written and clever follow up story. I love the characters and all the little but big twists and was sad when the story ended. Must read

I should have re-read the woman in cabin 10 before this one, but because I needed to but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I remembered the story more precisely. Another great Ruth Ware read! I also adore Imogen Church and her voice/acting… and her “whiny child” voice was so good that I hated it, if that makes sense? But I am the person that fast forwards through babies crying in movies. Anyway, 5 stars!

I love the connection to “The Woman In Cabin 10” I love Ruth Ware’s writing and the narration by Imogene Church. Can’t wait for the next one!

Lots to love about this book. Reading about characters I already know and love and the nice little bow at the end of the book to remind us that all is well :)

I feel Ruth Ware could write a book about anything and I would jump to get it. She is a glorious breath of fresh air after a reading slump. I have never been able to put any of her books down until the last word. And even then, crave more :)

Brava, Ruth! Loved all the twists and turns in this book and hope we get more from Lo in the future!

Ruth Ware’s books always keep me on the edge of my seat. The Woman in Suite 11 is fast paced and unpredictable. Imogen Church’s brilliant narration holds your attention while delivering each character with its own style an inflection. They are truly a dynamic duo!

The Best kind of Distraction

I was really looking forward to this one as I loved The Woman in Cabin 10. Sadly, it was not nearly as good. It was decent but there was a lot of filler. There was a ton of inner rambling that was unnecessary. Lo seemed so savvy in the first book but comes off as kind of dumb in this one. She seemed to make bad decision after bad decision. She also seemed to be crying every other minute and that is not the Lo I remember from the first book. This book was filled with too many irritating people. Lo's mother came off as annoying and ridiculous. So much time was wasted on the screeching children. To be fair, I am not a fan of audio books with dialogue between children and their parents. It always ends up sounding obnoxious and I spend my time fast forwarding through it. I definitely think there is a way to convey the love between a mother and her children without all of the dialog and whining. It takes your head out of the story when you hear crying, whining children in an audio book. Having said that, I really don't think it added much to the story. It actually made me feel like that's all her kids did and did not make me long for her to get home to them as quickly as she could. It seemed like something to add just to fill pages, and it was not needed. Other than that, it was fun to see a lot of the same characters from the first book. It would have been nice if there was less "family" stuff and more content surrounding the characters from Cabin 10. Not awful but certainly not her best.

Overall the book was engaging if not as thrilling as the first one. I love Ruth ware! Normally I absolutely LOVE Imogen Church’s narration. Any time I hear her voice in a Ware novel I feel like I’m listening to an old friend tell a story. She has an incredible reading voice and excellent intonation. However, in this particular book, Judah and the kids were pretty unbearable to listen to. I was clinching my jaw every time they spoke haha. There was also a moment when Carrie used a California valley girl accent that was so so awful. I was like “do we really sound like that to British people? Now I get why they think American accents are annoying.” lol. Again, Imogen is excellent at every other voice in this book. But if you find bad American accents grating, I’d recommend reading rather than listening.

Lo & Carrie are not Ware’s best characters. I really liked the development of their friendship, but otherwise find their stories predictable. This book felt lazy.

I usually LOVE when Imogen Church narrates. I’d listen to her reading me a dictionary! However, this time I found it all so grating. Kids literally screeching into my eardrums, a husband that talks so slowly I could’ve napped, and so on.

Not my favorite Ware book & Ive read them all.
