  • 'Kidult' collectors: Almost four in five Aussie adults buying toys for themselves
    Jul 7 2025

New research has revealed almost four in five Australian adults are buying toys for themselves, not just their kids.

Supercars legend Craig Lowndes is leading the charge of “kidult” collectors in partnership with Mattel for the official launch of their unique product collection.

Craig Lowndes told Dean Miller on 4BC Breakfast, "It's a lot of fun."

"I think it's actually brought out a lot of the good memories of growing up, especially running around the house with a Hot Wheels car and just dreaming about being a race driver at some point."

"Now turning into one, it's just been a lot of fun to go full circle back into where it all started."

  • When does it stop? Land tax 'hopelessly out of date' with revenue to exceed $2 billion this year
    Jul 7 2025

In just one year, an extra 24,000 properties in Queensland have become liable for land tax, taking the total number of affected properties to nearly 195,000.

This is due to soaring land valuations and the fact that the land tax threshold hasn’t budged since 2007.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella told Dean Miller on 4BC Breakfast, "We want to make sure that here in Queensland, we're actually promoting investment."

"We want to make sure that we're keeping the appeal of investment there and so I think it's really important that we're not suggesting that land tax be abolished altogether."

"We're simply saying that that threshold of $600,000 is no longer aligned with market conditions."

"We'd like to see that becoming a priority in perhaps in the next budget," Mrs Mercorella said.
