  • Episode #6 - Poems Flow Again: Garden
    Oct 23 2023

Episode #6 is an introduction to my poetry. I have been writing poetry since childhood and have always keep it close to myself, sharing with only a few people at various times in my life. After my initial surgery, I felt the flow of poetry and began writing again. This flow was one which I had not felt in many years since I'd experienced traumas and damaged trust that my words were safe. My first poem post-op is featured on Episode # 4 - Somatic Healing: The First Time Outside Post Surgery. On this Episode #6 - Poems Flow Again: Garden I am sharing about my poetry experience and my poem titled Garden.

  • Episode #5 What is Reiki? How does it work and what can it be used for?
    Oct 17 2023

Today's episode #5 is all about Reiki. What is Reiki? How does it work and what can it be used for?

Joining me to discuss Reiki is Amber Kwentus. Amber Kwentus is a Holistic Therapist and Intuitive Healer.  She is passionate about working with others to facilitate healing:  physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.  She combines trauma-informed therapy, including EMDR, with Reiki and other intuitive healing techniques, including mindfulness and breathwork, to facilitate massive transformation in the lives of her clients.  She is committed to being shoulder-to-shoulder with you as you journey into depths of your healing.  She is a mentor and guide for as long as your soul feels called to work with her and her biggest moments of accomplishment are when her clients are able to achieve their goals.Amber has gone through many of her own deep healing journeys including:  addiction, divorce, and miscarriage.  She is an open book when it comes to her own healing and believes that in order to connect it requires vulnerability and openness by her.  She believes in doing what she asks of her clients and has a holistic approach in balancing the logic and heart-centered spaces to assist in creating the highest version her clients have envisioned for themselves.Amber has been providing services both online and in person in her current capacity for the last 3 years but has been providing healing since she first launched her business in 2017.  While Amber does have many paid offerings and services she is also a part of several online and in person communities where she freely shares guided meditations and light language activations.  She is driven by her love of community and her vision of the world being healthy and whole through connection and healing. You can connect with her and view more of her services through her website:  www.amberkwentus.com Amber and I share about how we each discovered Reiki and how it has impacted our lives. We answer questions such as...

Is there a source for reiki?

    How did the practice originate?

What are attunements and reiki symbols?

What do those receiving reiki experience?

What's a session like in person? And what's it like over distance? How can reiki help with difficult or trapped emotions and trauma? Plus more!

  • Episode #4 - Somatic Healing: The First Time Outside Post Surgery
    Jul 10 2023

In this episode I share the story of my first time outside after my emergency surgery. I felt a reconnection to my body, which I later learned is a Somatic Healing. My experience going outside and feeling into my body showed me how disconnected I had become and gave me hope to keep moving forward. We all face challenges, obstacles and difficulties that create small spaces between our connection to our bodies. Come along and see and feel what I did as I reconnected with my body beyond pain.

  • Episode #3 - The Practice of Self-Compassion
    Jun 16 2023

In this episode I discuss the the practice of Self-Compassion, the practice of mindfully treating ourselves with consideration, kindness and comfort particularly in times of struggle and remembering we are connected to others within humanity.

I discuss the Self-Compassion Scale, developed by Dr. Kristin Neff, Ph.D. and the three components of this model. I provide examples of how each component may sound or feel emotionally, how this practice gives us power and why we must be patient with ourselves giving ample time as we learn to provide ourselves with Self-compassion.

I share how I learned of the practice of Self-compassion and how I have embodied and use this healing practice in my own life.

I give suggestions of ways to remind ourselves to practice and to embody self compassion such as

    • Here & Now stone

    • Jewelry

    • cards/notes/post its

    • Body art/henna

Self-compassion can be beneficial for a variety of human experiences and emotions, taking many forms including self-soothing or supportive touch, assisting us in discovering what we need in order to be happy, fierce self-compassion, working with your anger, and for motivation to change and to address undesired habits.
