    Reverend Emmanuel is an empath. That means that he's very sensitive, and feels everything around him.

    From a young age, he used processed foods and candy bars to shield him from pain and toxic energy.

    In his mid-30s, he started to heal himself. He learned to start feeling and to deal with his feelings.

    He cleaned sugar out of his diet and healed his microbiome. He started to listen to his body.

    Because, as Emmanuel says, the body doesn't lie.

    Now he no longer experiences pain, so he doesn't need to numb it.

  • 231. "I stopped suffering when I cut gluten and sugar": Jennifer

    When she was younger, Jennifer suffered terribly from pain, inflammation, lack of energy, bloating, plus a ton of other symptoms.

    But she was always told that she was "healthy".

    Gluten was not talked about 15-20 years ago, so Jennifer had to keep pushing to get to the root cause of her symptoms.

    Then one doctor sent Jennifer to a dietitian who told her that she shouldn't eat gluten.

    And that was the beginning of a whole new voyage of discovery!

  • 230. "I used sugar to numb my emotions and my pain": Denise

    Denise grew up in an abusive and traumatic household.

    She tried all kinds of ways to numb her pain, and sugar was always there for her.

    In high school, Denise went to counselling and started to learn other coping skills, but she still turned to sugar when she was tired and stressed.

    It was challenging for Denise to overcome her pain and to learn how to deal with her emotions and stop numbing her pain with sugar.

  • 229. "Moderating sugar and eating clean works for me": Irene

    Irene grew up with parents who grew up on a farm. Her mother loved sugar and processed foods, but she also did a lot of cooking, making hearty meals.

    Both of Irene's parents were overweight, and eventually they were diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • saturated fats
    • moderating sugar versus abstaining
    • weight loss
    • sweeteners
    • feeling better, and different ways to get there
    • what we eat in a day (and how often)
    • naturally occurring sugars (like in fruit) and added sugar
    • treats
    • understanding those who are different from us

    Where sugar's concerned, Irene is a moderator and she can handle just a little. But I (and maybe you) can't.

  • 227. "Sugar made my inflammation and gut issues worse": Shannon
    May 18 2025

    When she was in her 20s, Shannon's body was constantly stressed.

    She was managing a gym and doing bodybuilding shows, but she'd never felt LESS healthy.

    In fact, she was dealing with fatigue issues, hormone issues, gut issues, inflammation, pain... She couldn't walk, or she had to walk with a cane.

    The only thing Shannon was offered were drugs, and she was told she would be on drugs for the rest of her life, and that was the only way.

    But Shannon had just enough strength left to look for another way, including changing her diet and cutting sugar.

  • 226. Some of my favourite sugar free recipes: Netta

    In this episode, I share a few of my favourite sugar free recipes.

    Full disclosure: I'm no Masterchef!
    Plus I have a pretty busy life.

    So listen to get some yummy ideas for quick and simple meals that don't contain refined sugar or flour.

    P.S. Unlike the processed food industry, when I say "sugar free", I mean it!

    For example, here's the recipe for chaffles:

    INGREDIENTS

    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 cup finely shredded mozzarella or cheddar
    • a little butter

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Pre-heat waffle iron.
    2. Whisk egg and cheese in a medium bowl.
    3. Put a little butter in the waffle iron.
    4. Pour about 1/4th of the mixture into the waffle iron and cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden. Remove and repeat for remaining batter.
    5. Use instead of bread!
