  • The Disturbing Murder of Amanda Blackburn
    May 20 2023

In Season 1, Episode 1 of The Offender True Crime Podcast, we dig deep into the disturbing murder of Amanda Blackburn, the 28-year-old wife of preacher Davey Blackburn, who was brutally killed in her Indianapolis home in 2015. This initial episode lays bare the unsettling details surrounding Amanda's tragic demise and unveils the subsequent arrest and conviction of three men charged with her murder. This episode is one of many where we begin the meticulous exploration of the grim details of Amanda Blackburn's murder, trudge forward with the pursuit of justice, and consider the shocking aftermath.

Along with our special guest, Amy Smith, from the famed criminal watchdog blog, Watchkeep, we explore the unsettling set of circumstances surrounding Davey Blackburn, who, despite the harrowing loss of his wife, swiftly capitalized on the tragedy with a controversial campaign, causing many to question his motivations. Known for his alluring charisma, Davey has been marked by his disturbing behaviors pre and post-murder of his pregnant wife.

We cut straight to the chase. The narrative swiftly gravitates to Davey Blackburn in this episode. This is a tragic murder of a beloved woman, and Davey quickly pivoted to capitalize on the tragedy with a controversial campaign, triggering alarm and suspicion among many. Throughout this episode, Davey's odd actions strike us as equally disturbing, therefore presenting the need to scrutinize Davey's peculiar obsessions, particularly his fixation with sex. In addition, we reveal how his public humiliation of Amanda and objectification of women at his gym of choice, LA Fitness, seemingly favors a narcissistic, antisocial personality.

Our investigation poses crucial questions: Why wasn't Davey considered a suspect in Amanda's murder? Are there inconsistencies in the timeline of the crime? And why have our requests for crime-related documents via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) been stonewalled? Despite the lack of cooperation from the Marion County Prosecutors' office, we persist in seeking answers. We believe it's time for the public to access the records they have a constitutional right to view.

Finally, we question the infamous 911 call Davey made upon finding Amanda unconscious, which remains unheard despite repeated requests for its release. This curious detail fuels further speculation about Davey's role in the incident, raising doubts about the call's authenticity and his actions. At the same time, Amanda lay bleeding in their home.

  • Flying Into the Danger Zone: The Kit Martin Case
    May 26 2023

In this electrifying premiere episode in the series, we dig deep into the complex, controversial case of Christian "Kit" Martin. This decorated Army Major, who had once flown into the most dangerous war zones in the Middle East, was plunged into a different kind of danger - accused and convicted of a shocking triple homicide in the quiet town of Pembroke, Kentucky.

This episode's narration uniquely takes us beyond the face value of court reports, spotlighting the allegations of deep-seated corruption within the Kentucky judicial system and the claimed involvement of Martin's ex-wife, Joan Harmon. The intrigue thickens as the hosts meticulously dissect the timeline of events, from the discovery of the bodies to the arrest and trial of Martin, shedding light on the perplexing elements of this case.

With special guest Michael Conzachi, a seasoned veteran with three decades of experience as an LA homicide detective who also served with the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, we explore Mike's insight as a private investigator specializing in Army veterans. Conzachi provides an indispensable perspective and has worked closely on Martin's case since 2015. Conzachi helps us dig deeper into the troubling aspects of the trial - the circumstantial evidence, the alleged motive, and the lack of concrete physical evidence linking Martin to the crime. Moreover, we dig deeper into the defense's claims that other potential suspects were overlooked and that Harmon's alibi wasn't thoroughly examined.

Crystal and Mic secure a rare phone interview from the man himself - Kit Martin, speaking to us from behind bars at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex. Amid the cold, harsh reality of incarceration, Martin has found solace in the strings of a guitar, teaching GED classes and diving into studying History and Geography.

This gripping, first-hand dialogue provides a candid glimpse into Martin's life in prison and his efforts to preserve his innocence and dignity. But what resonates the most are his heartrending accounts of his family and the proud military lineage that ties him to his father, a fellow veteran.

Martin shares with listeners what he labels as his irrefutable alibi. But, more intriguingly, he shares the ONE piece of evidence that could shatter the prosecution's case and potentially exonerate him.

Lastly, Martin takes listeners back to his sentencing hearing, where he was inexplicably denied the opportunity to make a statement - a circumstance that remains a mystery outside the judge's chambers. Martin shares the unspoken words he would have delivered to the court on that fateful day.

Together, we dig deep into the tangled web of accusations that ensnared Martin, the puzzling context of his arrest, and the serious allegations lodged against him by his ex-wife, Joan Harmon. Yet, Harmon's conduct adds another layer of mystery to the case, as she consistently evades involvement in the investigation by invoking her Fifth Amendment rights.

Furthermore, we probe into the curious arrival of Harmon's new boyfriend's law enforcement officer brother at the gruesome crime scene - the first to encounter the charred remains of Pam Phillips and Edward Dansereau.

In our journey through this intricate maze of allegations, cover-ups, and calls for justice, we honor the memory of those tragically lost. In addition, we recognize the tireless efforts of Martin's supporters, #KitsArmy, who continue to fight for his innocence, clamoring for a thorough investigation to unmask the truth.

  • Offender True Crime: Kit Martin Call To Action & Startling Developments in Amanda Blackburn Murder
    Jun 1 2023

In this riveting quick update for Offender True Crime, we are touching on two compelling cases that have captured headlines and left us with more questions than answers.

First, we're urging our listeners to rally around decorated army vet Kit Martin, who is fighting a wrongful conviction that has shaken his world. Many leading authorities who have watched this case unfold from November 2015 insist Martin has been wrongfully convicted under suspicious circumstances, hinting at conspiracy and corruption. An alarming violation of Martin's constitutional rights transpired when he was denied the opportunity to make a statement at his sentencing, a request also denied to his family. This violation in a Kentucky court raises questions, along with numerous other disturbing revelations, and posits concerns about the integrity of the legal process that has led to his conviction, casting doubt on the justice served. Stay tuned as we dig deeper into this disturbing case. We'll provide you with more startling facts about Martin's case and why bringing his plight to the forefront of public attention is crucial in episode 2 of the series coming soon. But today, we are appealing to Offender True Crime Nation's sense of justice and asking for your help with a significant call to action: signing a petition to revisit his case. The quest for justice is an ongoing battle, and every signature counts. Your voice could free an innocent man. Find it here: www.change.org/FreeKitMartin.

In the second part of the update, we briefly dig back into the chilling murder of Amanda Blackburn, a case that gripped the nation with its disturbing undertones. Amanda, a young pastor's wife, was brutally murdered in her home, her life cut short in the most tragic way. The case, seemingly solved with the conviction of three men, Larry Jo Taylor, Jalen Watson, and Diano Gordon, has resurfaced with startling developments and more questions. The Marion Co. Court, in a bench trial rather than a jury of his peers with a retiring Judge, found Larry Jo Taylor guilty despite no physical evidence tying him or the other men to the murder. Watson and Gordon, close friends since early childhood, struck a plea deal with the prosecutor to testify against their new, much younger pal, Larry Jo Taylor. All three men were part of an Indianapolis gang known as Kilt. With an upcoming appellate hearing for Taylor, we're about to dig deeper into every crevice of this case, incident by incident, with an expansive, ongoing series. Alongside this, the post-murder behavior of Amanda's husband, preacher Davey Blackburn, even seven years later, continues to raise more than a few eyebrows, and we'll be examining that too. We'll be taking our listeners through the intricate details of the case and fresh perspectives and insights that have come to light in the years since Amanda's murder. Be ready to delve into the questions that still linger, the unresolved inconsistencies, and the disturbing truths obscured in this tragic case.

Get ready to dig deep into the darkness of these two cases and three other upcoming series launches as we join Offender True Crime Nation in the relentless pursuit of justice. • Unsettling Coincidence: The Disturbing Murder of Amanda Blackburn Episode 2
    Jun 3 2023

In Episode 2 of the Amanda Blackburn series, we dig deeper into this mysterious and unsettling case, examining the baffling behavior and contradictory statements of Amanda's preacher husband, Davey Blackburn.

Amanda Blackburn, the pregnant wife of an Indianapolis pastor, was brutally murdered in her home on November 10, 2015. The crime sent shockwaves through the community, and the details that emerged from the subsequent investigation were truly horrifying. Amanda had been shot three times – once in the back of the head, once under her arm, and once in her back right shoulder.

The mysteries began to stack up early in the investigation. The bullet retrieved from Amanda's skull couldn't conclusively be matched to the other two, adding another layer of complexity to this already baffling case. Forensic pathologists usually retrieve the projectile during the autopsy, using it to identify the weapon used. However, in this case, the evidence seemed inconclusive, muddying the waters further.

And then there's the matter of Amanda's underwear. These were found by paramedics folded neatly and placed under her left thigh. In one of Davey's many renditions of returning home to find his wife bleeding out, he stated her 'panties' were off to the side of her body, where he thought she may have fallen from a fainting spell. This detail, shared in one of Davey's countless interviews, has raised questions and sparked discussions about what truly happened on that fateful day.

Davey Blackburn's post-murder conduct has not only piqued the public's interest but also led to a flurry of critical speculation. His public statements, often strewn with perplexing inconsistencies, were delivered with a fervor that bordered on the theatrical. He seemed eager to seize any available platform to share his narrative, doing so with an unnerving dose of toxic positivity that glossed over the brutal reality of his wife's murder. In the face of such a devastating personal loss, this unusual ebullience sparked skepticism and added another layer of complexity to the unfolding mystery. Many began to question the veracity of his accounts, his jubilant demeanor clashing dissonantly with the dark reality of Amanda's tragic end.

Davey Blackburn's account of discovering Amanda lifeless in a chilling pool of her blood has become another enigmatic facet of this unnerving case. He claimed to have spent an inexplicably extended 40 minutes in his driveway on a phone call with a friend before making this harrowing discovery. The arrival of the emergency medical technicians (EMTs), however, unfolded a different tale - they were the ones who summoned the police, not Davey. The questions that arise from this event are as unnerving as they are perplexing. Did Davey even dial 911 in his alleged moment of horror? Or, did he opt for a more subdued approach, contacting the non-emergency line, which would explain the initial absence of police at the scene? The answers to these questions are obscured by another mystery - the apparent unavailability of the 911 call recording.

Adding to the string of strange occurrences is the story of a barnwood casket that mysteriously showed up at a local funeral home around the time of Amanda's murder. According to Davey, this is the design that Amanda would have appreciated, raising questions about how this casket arrived unbidden and so conveniently timed.

As we dissect these complexities and troubling inconsistencies, we agree with Davey on one point: there are no coincidences. The eerie chain of events surrounding Amanda Blackburn's murder seems far from random.

  • Offender Exclusive: Dissecting The Kit Martin Case with Emilio Corsetti
    Jun 11 2023

As the tape rolls for the second episode of the riveting Offender True Crime Podcast series, "Flying into the Danger Zone: The Kit Martin Case," we're greeted by the familiar voices of our tenacious hosts, Mic Marlowe and Crystal McKenzie. This time, they're sharing the studio with acclaimed true crime author Emilio Corsetti, who's hard at work on his forthcoming book, "I Will Ruin You," centered around the complex Kit Martin case.

This episode feels like a descent down a rabbit hole, revealing one twist after another in the tragic saga of injustice that has haunted Kit Martin. Corsetti, using his expertise in true crime storytelling, paints a vivid picture of the prosecution's shaky theory, exposing the alleged missteps of Assistant AG Barbara Whaley and Lt. Scott Smith. Oh, and let's make some Noisworthy.  Christian Co. Sherriff Deputy Scott Noisworthy has some explaining to do about various calls he received while investigating this case.

Together, our hosts and their guest untangle the controversy surrounding the decision to weaponize Martin's military experience in court. They comb through the layers of misrepresented evidence presented to the unsuspecting jury, prompting us to question the integrity of the entire process.

A particularly chilling moment comes when they delve into the mystery of Pam's phone. How did it ping off a cell tower in Elkton, Kentucky, where Joan Harmon lived, only to be discovered weeks later in a front yard? This puzzling fact has ignited a social media frenzy, with #JoanHadThePhone trending as listeners worldwide grapple with this eerie detail.

The episode doesn't stop at unraveling the mystery of the phone. Our hosts urge listeners to look into the alleged corruption at KSP Madisonville post 2 in KY, where Lt. Leonard Scott Smith served before his retirement and subsequent involvement with the Kit Martin case. Smith's intricate testimony and sudden ascent to the lead investigator of the Christian County police department post-retirement only add to the murky intrigue surrounding this case.

Perhaps the most baffling segment of the episode involves Joan Harmon and her suspicious handling of Pam Phillips' phone, which appeared in an AT&T store six weeks after the murders. The question isn't just why, but how? Jonathon Reeves' testimony suggests that while Kit Martin's phone headed south to

Fort Campbell, Pam's somehow ended up in Elkton, KY. Emilio Corsetti highlights the pressing need for a clear, straightforward visual aid that could have emphasized the significance of this piece of evidence to the jurors.

As the episode comes to a close, the conversation circles back to Emilio's upcoming book. There's an electric anticipation in the air, and we can almost see the glow of the studio lights reflecting off the unwritten pages of "I Will Ruin You." Amid the accolades for Emilio's commitment to uncovering the truth, there's an undertone of resolve. The fight for justice isn't over, and as the hosts sign off, we're left eagerly awaiting the next installment in this profound exploration of the Kit Martin case.

  • A Deeper Look into the Amanda Blackburn Case: DNA and Clotting
    Jun 18 2023

In the third episode of this series, our special guest medical emergency expert Amber digs deeper into the perplexing case surrounding the tragic murder of Amanda Blackburn from a segment of the publicly available transcript. The focus shifts towards two crucial elements of the case – DNA evidence and the specifics of blood clotting.
Davey Blackburn, Amanda's husband, has drawn attention not just for his seemingly skewed understanding of how DNA works but also for his puzzling actions following the murder. In a public interview, Davey referenced a pink sweater, which he confusingly referred to as a scarf, saying the convicted men used it to clean up all DNA evidence from their home.
Davey's claim highlights a fundamental misunderstanding of DNA. As our listeners likely know, DNA, the unique genetic code found in every cell, can be left behind in various ways – not just blood but skin cells, hair, and other body fluids. It's a highly resilient molecule that doesn't just 'disappear' with a simple wipe-down, especially not with a fabric item like a sweater.
Moreover, the infamous pink sweater was not discovered *inside* the Blackburn residence but in the accused men's getaway car, which coincidentally only had 1 of the three convicted alleged murderers' DNA on it. The man who received the harshest sentence had no DNA found inside the murder house or on this now infamous pink sweater. This raises significant questions about the validity of Davey's claims and suggests the need for a more thorough analysis of the DNA evidence in this case.
Our medical emergency expert, who is also highly trained in Stop the Bleed medical training, brings her expertise to the discussion, digging into the specifics of blood clotting and wounds. She explains how blood clotting in cases such as one can explain some critical questions regarding Amanda's injuries. Blood clotting, or coagulation, is a complex process involving numerous steps that typically begins within seconds to minutes following an injury.
The autopsy report indicates Amanda had scratches on her face. Intriguingly, similar marks were visible on Davey's face during his national TV appearances post the incident. If these scratches were indeed inflicted simultaneously, the coagulation timeline might offer critical insights into the events leading up to Amanda's tragic death.
Yet, amid these details, Davey's conduct in the aftermath of his wife's murder adds an eerie layer to the narrative. His decision to purchase a domain name for his new business, "Nothing is Wasted," a mere three days after the murder raises eyebrows. The timing, combined with his tweet "Nothing is Wasted" during Amanda's funeral, leads one to question his motivations during this personal tragedy. According to the trial transcript, the state asked Davey specifically when he founded his Nothing is Wasted program, and the report shows him on the stand, under oath, stating in 2019. The defense counsel did not cross-examine him. We have digital records that prove the Nothing is Wasted domain was purchased just days after Amanda was murdered and then redirected to his then-church website, Resonate.
This series certainly leaves listeners with more questions than answers. The circumstances surrounding Amanda Blackburn's murder remain shrouded in mystery, with startling inconsistencies and disturbing revelations adding to its complexity.

  • Justice on Appeal: The Kit Martin Case with Special Guest
    Jun 24 2023

Welcome to the latest episode of Offender True Crime, where we dig deep into crime, justice, and the systems that bind them. This episode focuses on the notorious and controversial case of retired US Army Major Kit Martin, who was convicted in 2021 for the murders of Calvin and Pamela Phillips and their neighbor, Ed Dansereau, in the small town of Pembroke, Kentucky.

A growing chorus of voices, both within and outside of Pembroke, assert that the trial was unfairly skewed against Martin from the onset. With an upcoming appellate court hearing and the Department of Public Advocacy's (DPA) anticipated involvement, there's a tangible hope that the elusive justice in the case might finally be within grasp.

One of the mysterious topics of discussion surrounding the crucial pieces of evidence previously dismissed or suppressed - Joan Harmon, Kit's ex-wife, was found in possession of one of the victims' phones. The significance of this fact was diminished during the original trial, leading to widespread questioning of the justice system's integrity. Joan invoked her Fifth Amendment rights, an act deemed inadmissible during Martin's trial, obstructing the jury from considering a pivotal aspect of the case.

Public sentiment in Pembroke and beyond leans toward the belief that Martin's conviction was the outcome of a justice system more intent on securing a conviction than unearthing the truth. The forthcoming appellate court hearing may be a chance to overturn the previous judgment and offer Martin an opportunity to prove his innocence.

With the hope of the DPA stepping in, expectations are high for a fair and transparent process. This development is a clear indication that the glaring anomalies in the case have caught attention and warrant further scrutiny.

This episode doesn't stop at the surface but digs into the justice system and the Constitutional rights that may have been violated in Martin's trial. Our special guest, Greg Josephchuk, has been a close friend and fierce advocate for Martin for years, and he joins us to talk about the case and the hope we are all clinging to with the upcoming appeal process.

The elements in this episode contribute to the unsettling picture of the original trial and strike many as a stark departure from the justice the American legal system should uphold.

Join us as we untangle the threads of this complex case, shining a light on the dark corners of the justice system. Stay tuned for this gripping journey through the twists and turns of the Kit Martin case as we remain committed to uncovering the truth beneath the conveniently obscured facts.
