WEEK 22 SUMMARY

Doctrine and Covenants sections 51 to 57 cover a range of revelations given to the early Latter-day Saints during a time of gathering and establishment. Section 51 deals with the law of consecration and stewardship, outlining how resources are to be managed among the Saints by Bishop Edward Partridge. Section 52 provides instruction for the first high priests' conference and the calling of missionaries to spread the gospel. Section 53 and 54 address personal revelations to Sidney Gilbert and Newel Knight, respectively. Section 55 outlines the calling of William W. Phelps and the printing of Church materials. Lastly, Section 56 serves as a warning against pride and disobedience, while Section 57 identifies Independence, Missouri, as the center place of Zion and directs the purchase of lands for the gathering of the Saints. These sections collectively guide the Saints in their efforts to establish Zion and live according to the principles of the gospel.

WEEK 21 SUMMARY

Doctrine and Covenants sections 49 and 50 provide guidance and counsel to Church members regarding some specific challenges of the early church. In Section 49, the Lord addresses misconceptions and false teachings propagated by the Shakers, clarifying doctrines about marriage, meat consumption, and the Second Coming of Christ. Section 50 deals with false spirits and deception within the church, teaching that manifestations and spiritual gifts must edify and be consistent with the truth. These sections emphasize staying true to the established doctrines and being discerning about spiritual experiences.

In Doctrine and Covenants 46, guidance is given on the conduct of sacrament meetings, emphasizing that they should be open to everyone. It also highlights the importance of spiritual gifts and encourages seeking them for the benefit of all. In D&C 47, John Whitmer is called to keep a historical record of the Church, signify the importance of documentation and record-keeping. Lastly, D&C 48 instructs the saints on acquiring land in Ohio as they gather in the area, reinforcing the importance of unity and preparation in building the Church community.
