    "I was wondering - how can having an umbilical hernia and having implanted mesh affect my progress with the course? I have been doing the leaky gut protocol and have been experiencing some pain and bloating that I didn't have prior. My mesh seems to be bothering me in the areas where I think it would be attached. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for relief? I'm also doing the liver protocol and getting ready to start the H. Pylori protocol."

  • 264// Why are my Oxalates so high? LIVE Coaching

    Happy May!

    As we step into the months of April and May, I (Allison) am finishing up my maternity leave. To give me a break from podcasting, we're pulling content from our group coaching calls inside our private coaching group, the Better Belly Blueprint, to share with YOU.

    Today's topic is from my client Krista. She asked:

    "What are the possible causes of oxalates being that high? I had no candida or mold on my OAT and I don't feel like I overeat oxalates...

    To be truthful, my true vices in everything that I have given up have oxalates - coffee, dark chocolate and a good glass of red wine. I am giving up wine this month while doing these protocols (as well as all alcohol) - which I only had 2 glasses a week. I am weaning off coffee (only had two literal sips today of half calf because I LOVE the taste) and I am really hoping I don't have to completely give up chocolate - but what do you think?"

    Krista's question comes from the fact that she got testing inside our program that showed that she has elevated levels of oxalates in her body that was part of the root causes driving her symptoms. Oxalates come from a variety of places, but one place you can control them the most is in your diet.

    What she REALLY wanted to know is - what foods does she actually have to give up? Is it all foods with oxalates? Is her oxalate problem really about food - or is it possibly something else?

    This is a GREAT question and one that opened us up to talking about the DEEPER root causes of oxalates other than food (because oxalate sensitivity is NEVER just about food!).

    "How do I know when my candida is gone? As a reminder, I'm re-doing my candida protocol on week 4. (Update: I got diarrhea with the candida treatment the first round, but I don't now!). I do continue to get bloating after I eat any meal.

    Should I re-test for candida after I finish my protocol? I just want to know what exactly is causing the bloating and why it isn't gone yet!"

    What she REALLY wanted to know is - why is her bloating still here? And how can she know if the candida is gone if she still has that particular symptom?

All of this is good, but I feel like I over-stress about it so much that I don't even listen to my body and how it feels!

    In your opinion, what do I really need to dial in as far as nutrition while I am trying to heal my gut?"

    Krista's question comes on the heels of having made some great improvements in her health and symptoms such as having more energy in afternoon, being able to function perfectly with NO coffee/caffeine, bloating being down, distention is 50% better, and being able to fall asleep MUCH faster through the night.

    What she REALLY wanted to know is - would hiring a nutritionist heal her heal her gut faster?

    Do you struggle with acid reflux?

    He shared:

    "I've had some incredible improvements since starting the Better Belly Blueprint!

    • I've lost 25 pounds since the end of November without being hungry.
    • I sleep so much better - without waking anytime between 2-4 am!
    • Stools are now mostly firm and normal (I'm so thankful!)
    • Liver enzyme AST has fallen from 40 to 32 per latest test.
    • Likewise, ALT has fallen from 66 to 51.
    • Modest increase in Alkaline Phosphatase from 46 to 48.

    But - I'm struggling to integrate the stomach acid protocol, and I'm discouraged because I'm still getting acid reflux and being woken up in the early morning by abdominal pain. I'm not certain how to tell when I can / should layer on the other protocols when I'm progressing so slowly with the first few! Can you give me any advice?"

    Don's question is a SUPER common situation many people find themselves in as they're trying to heal! You see some progress in protocols and symptom improvement, but you feel like you're getting stuck or slowing down in certain protocols - plus some symptoms aren't seeming to budge at all!

    Today's topic is from my client Elizabeth. She asked:

    "Is it possible that some food sensitivities are caused because of mold exposure? If so, after doing mold detox - is it possible for gluten and dairy sensitivities to go away?"

    Elizabeth's question comes from the fact that she got toxic mold testing inside our program that showed that she has mold colonization in her body that was part of the root causes driving her symptoms. She also got advanced food sensitivity testing showing foods she was temporarily sensitive to and foods she was permanently sensitive to.     Gluten and dairy technically were on her permanent food sensitivity list, so what Elizabeth REALLY wanted to know is - can any of her permanent food sensitivities ever go away?
