About this listen

I’ve always wanted him. Just not like this….

I’ve been in love with my brother’s best friend since we were kids.

Anson is the only man that I’ve ever wanted.

Too bad for me, he only seems to see me as his best friend’s little sister.

I thought that when he left for the military, things would get easier.

That maybe my feelings would fade, maybe I could forget him when he’s away on deployments.

I should have known better.

Until, one drunken night, it seems that maybe he sees me as more than a little sister to him after all.

When I wake up the next morning, he’s gone and I try to hold onto the memory of our one night together.

Except I have more than the memory because it seems that Anson has left me a little keepsake of our one night together.

And in nine months, I’ll have a surprise for my sexy Navy SEAL as well.

Spicy novella

A spicy best friend’s brother, first time romance with great banter and some seriously NSFW scenes.

Maybe it’s me?!?

So I think this is the only Shaw Hart book that I don’t like. I haven’t read them all and this may be the only one of hers that I’ve listened to, but I really didn’t like it. I finished it because I was hoping it would get better and it would be enough to turn it around for me but it wasn’t.

Maybe it’s me. Maybe I have a disconnect from how SEALS are portrayed in pretty much everything to how this SEAL acts and reacts to things. I had a hard time reconciling someone that was in love with another person proceeding to ghost them and drop off the planet for no good reason. Like if he had been deployed for an emergency or something as opposed to just being afraid to talk to her about what happened between them kind of reason. The whole hiding out at someone else’s house ticked me off too. Because in my head all I could think was, if he hadn’t run into her would he have gotten over his fear and talked to her or not? Her dropping some truth on him when they did run into each other also gave him an excuse to pull his head out of a place where the sun doesn’t shine.

Ok. Rant over about the story. I did like how the story ended. I liked their happily ever after.

The narrators were new to me and although I don’t mess with the settings to speed up or slow down, I kept feeling like I needed to slow them down. Usually I feel immersed in the story when I listen to an audiobook and that didn’t happen here. Now, to be fair since I didn’t care for the story I may be transferring some of that onto the narrators so I gave them a 3 and will listen to something else that they have narrated before I decide that I don’t want to hear them again.

Overall, I wouldn’t say I could recommend the story or the narrators. My recommendation for this book would probably be to try it for yourself and see how you feel.

Great Story BUT

Narration was bad, monotone. Sounded like they were reading from a book they hadn't even read before. No emotion!

Nope

This book was short like two hours or so.

The story was crap, the narrators were not the best and overall it was just blah.

Great brother’s best friend romance

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was a great brother’s best friend romance. The story had a great flow and I loved Lottie and Anson together. They had so much chemistry and a foundation of friendship. I really enjoyed reading this story.

Second time around I listened to the audiobook and I still love the story and I really enjoyed the narration. Both narrators did a great job.
