Publisher's summary

When she joins the kingdom's most elite fae, she will either lose everything or rise above them all.

Jess, a half-fae hidden in the shadows of a rural life, craves more. Her longing for adventure and the magic that pulses through her veins leads to a fateful flower festival, where her dormant ability blooms into the open. Thrust into a world of opulence and competition, Jess discovers a devastating truth kept from her by her mother–a secret that alters her very identity.

He vowed never to love again.

Rejection has left fae courtier Laec wallowing in wine and disdainful of what he sees in the mirror. When Queen Elphame offers him a foreign commission, he jumps at the chance for a fresh start. But when he meets the alluring Çifta on the road to her betrothed, he learns that healing his heart may inflame the very trouble his queen sent him to prevent.

She expects a fairytale wedding, but wakes up in a nightmare.

Beautiful and eligible Çifta believes in the importance of duty. Wishing to please her father, she agrees to marry a powerful unseelie prince. But when she discovers his cold heart and attempts to break the engagement, the princess-to-be quickly finds herself in chains. Alone and trapped in a damp fortress, she cannot see a way out.

As fate weaves the paths of these strangers together, they stand at a crossroad of calamity and triumph. Will they succumb to darkness, or rise, united by the strength of their spirit?

A Blossom at Midnight is the poetic first book in The Scented Court, a YA noblebright fantasy series by an award-winning author. This series delivers an epic-length fantasy experience that includes hyper-intelligent animal familiars, an all-out rescue for love, an FMC that goes rogue, political intrigue, fae courts, and two slow-burn romances that will melt your heart. Perfect for fans of Holly Black, Sarah J Maas, and Tamora Pierce.

Stunning, Magickal, a must read…

Stunning, Magickal, a must read.
this book had it all & was outstanding! the narrator was top notch! from the time i started the book, i didn’t want to put it down! The author has a way of making each character touch your soul! i loved that “the scented court” book 1 i just finished this book & it kinda ties into the worlds she has already created about Fae! However, this book goes much deeper into a society of fae none could imagine! The author dies an excellent job of creating her world without you being swept away by too much politics, or too much history that it takes away from the story at hand!
I also thought the narrator does a fantastic job of making each character their own! on an audio book the narrator often can make it or break it for me! in this book she added to it! i have read the majority of books by this author and have yet to find one that i cannot wait to dive into her next! I am ready to dive into book 2 of the Scented court saga to see where she leads me! i will say if you love magick, fae paranormal, romance, and just find out who you are perhaps who you are or identify with, this book is probably for you! I know it’s probably one of my favorites thus far by the author! i hope you enjoy it as much as i did!

the twist at the end

AL Knorr is one of my favorite authors in this genre and she supports that with this book as well. I was hooked and lived the way the story wound around.

Monotone voice

I don't really enjoy the reading. She doesn't seem very thrilling to me. It makes the story boring.

Lovely, but slow

Ok story. Just a little slow.I do love the flowers and herbs and the wispy feel of the story. The narrator does a lovely job capturing the gentle nature of the flowers and familiars.
