#1 BESTSELLING GLOBAL PHENOMENON

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable audiobook.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he’s not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Wonderful

A great reimagining of Beauty and the Beast. It's by far my favorite retelling. A well earned romance, great world building, and a plot that keeps you guessing.
I believe this is the first book in a series (cannot wait for the sequel!) but I appreciate how this book is a complete story on its own. Too many books end on cliff hangers nowadays, A Court of Thorns and Roses is a breath of fresh air.

Read the book instead

I LOVE this story, but the narration nearly ruined it for me. I could tell the narrator's voice just wasn't the same as how I would have read it in my head. I stopped listening to the audiobook and bought the actual book - and then read through all three in the series in a week. I'd definitely recommend skipping the audiobook and reading it instead.

Loved it

What a great story! It was romantic, but not a romance. Great plot. Excellent characters, and a decent ending. I recommend it!

Excellent - a must read for fantasy buffs

This book was entertaining, engaging and complete. Maybe it will turn into a series but the story doesn't need one. The narrator was very good and her voice abd cadance fit the the story. I have not read any of Sarah's books before this one and I just may have to pick up another at some point. The plot was well thought out and thorough. Well worth my credit!

Favorite Beauty & the Beast Retelling

What did you love best about A Court of Thorns and Roses?

The author's refreshing take of the very popular Beauty and the Beast Trope.
Feyre is definitely not people's general conception of the Belle archetype. But I really love how real she feels as a character. She and Nyx (of Rosamund Hodge's Cruel Beauty) are some of the best Beauty's I've had the pleasure to read.
I also love how three-dimensional the Beauty's sisters are in the story, especially Nesta. I'm really hoping that Nesta gets her own spin-off novel because I feel she needs more love and attention.
Also, I found the way Feyre ended up in Tamlin's estate quite unique from the other versions/retellings of Beauty and the Beast which I've encountered.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Court of Thorns and Roses?

That would be a spoiler.
But I do recall saying "Bitch, don't do it" at a certain part of the book.
And I do recall thinking "Is this supposed to be an appropriate teen read?" Shouldn't this be for more mature readers? Though really, it doesn't matter in my case.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nope. But I love her performance here

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The one with Feyre and Nesta.

Any additional comments?

Overall, I love the book and it's characters. I can't wait for the sequel. I know there is going to be a sequel. So to tell me otherwise would be a travesty.

Captivating

I really liked the flow of this story. Fayra (I could be spelling the name wrong) is a heroine that I really enjoyed. The fairy twist of something similar almost to beauty and the beast is entertaining. This was difficult to stop listening to once I started.
