When Molly Madison, dog-wrangler extraordinaire, stumbles upon a murder in her new hometown, she must track down a killer to save the day.

Ex-police officer and former PI Molly Madison is starting over. After the death of her husband, she and her golden retriever, Harlow, move cross-country to California. But as charming and peaceful as the beachside town seems, she soon learns its tranquil tides hold dark secrets.

On her first day in the new house, a large, slobbering Saint Berdoodle wanders in. Molly winds up taking on the responsibility of training Noodle since his owner is too busy to do the job. On one of their daily beachside walks, Noodle digs up a severed hand. Once Molly alerts the police and they run a background check on her, an incident from her past makes her an immediate suspect - after all, Noodle’s testimony to clear her name won’t hold much water in court.

To prove her innocence, Molly must rely on instincts keener than a canine’s to sniff out the real killer. But when Molly’s life is put in danger, will her two very loyal pups be able to rescue her?

Excellent story well developed characters suspenseful. A lot of twist interns love this series. Can’t wait to read more.

This was my first book by Rothschild, but will not be my last. Excellent story and interesting characters. A good mystery without being overly graphic, yet not a cosy type mystery. Therese Plummer is amazing, as always and the reason I gave this author a try.

Good suspense, well written, and honestly I did not predict the ending. Plus Therese Plummer is my all time favorite narrator!

A book with dogs as key players sounded perfect to me: my dogs and I have competed in agility and nose work for more than a decade, and I'm a nose work instructor. As a result, the descriptions of Molly Madison's efforts to "train" various dogs was PAINFUL! The idea that she would carefully position a tunnel "precisely 22" from the weave poles" when working with two big dogs was preposterous! I have small dogs but still I always have a minimum of 5' between any two obstacles in my practice yard. And the idea of starting a dog's training by issuing a command as opposed to first capturing the desired behavior felt very out of touch. I had been hoping that this would be the first book in a fun new series. Unfortunately, I won't be moving on to read further books...

Don't choose this if you know dog training/agility

I chose this book because of the narrator, which didn't disappoint, she is one of my favorites. The story was OK, I never felt invested in the story or character.
