Publisher's summary

How to love when you don't feel like loving.

Everywhere we look, we see evidence that love is in short supply. Terrorists and political corruption, school shootings and troubled marriages, impatient online sniping and character assassination - all point to the fact that we do not know how to love one another as Jesus commanded and modeled. We put our own interests and happiness first, despite the fact that the greatest happiness comes through sacrificial love.

In this book, Dr. Larry Crabb shows listeners how to understand the deep and perfect love we are shown by our creator and redeemer, and how to pour that love into other people. This love is about more than being nice and serving others. It's about relating to others in such a way that they feel heard, seen, and valued. This love sacrifices and suffers and keeps loving, even when doing so is costly. This kind of love, says Crabb, is the kind worth fighting for in all of our relationships, and A Different Kind of Happiness shows how to make it a reality.

Wow! 🤩 why haven’t I found this sooner?

What a blessing this book was to me. Thank you, Dr. Crabb. May you rest in peace, knowing that you impacted my life and so many others with your God, ordained and spirit filled Work was deeply encouraged and challenged to think beyond the limitations in my own human condition when it comes to experiencing happiness as God designed it. May you two be “stretched “listening to this read on how we can be content and happy even in the worst of circumstances in life isn’t about our personal comfort and happiness, but about “knowing Him and making Him known” through that we can experience happiness

Not as great as his other books

I love Larry Crabb's books. This one missed the mark for me. It didn't feel a well-formed as his other books like it was a half-baked idea. However, England did a wonderful narration job.

Hard to Understand

Now I'm going to rate this a 2 star only because i have read his other books he's been involved in and those are 5 stars. Yet I'm disappoint in this one because it kept feeling over my head. It was like hard for me to process it. I highly credited his previous book "Connecting", so I finished this book in the hopes to understand it. Unfortunately it still didnt fully make sence is if looking at a picture shaped as a donut. Sweet insight but you feel like something is missing.

That doesn't necessarily mean the book IS not good. Perhaps it just wasnt for me. I tried to go back to digest it months later but it had the same effect after a short while so I didnt continue.

Yet I did continued afterwards with Larry Crabs other book entitled, "encouragment" and that book was very good and helpful.
