Publisher's summary

Chelsea Welling is a completely normal 15-year-old girl…well normal except for the pesky fact that she thinks she is going crazy. Either that or she really is being transported to a magical world known locally as Amar.

However when Chelsea is transported to Amar with her friend Easton, she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that these little trips are more than figments of her imagination. Then the unthinkable happens. Chelsea, Easton, Chelsea's brother Clint, and their mutual friend Bobby are all stranded in Amar. They cannot return to Earth until they finish a dangerous quest that their fathers set out on over 20 years ago.

Chelsea is in for one trying week as she flees from werewolves, faces down faeries, and fits into fancy dresses - all while she struggles alongside her friends to fulfill the all-but-impossible tasks of finding out what the quest their fathers set out on was, and succeeding where their fathers failed.

All in all, well done.

Really, it’s a 3.5. All and all, I think this was a good debut novel. The pacing was well done, the tension always present. The beginning hooked me immediately. I enjoyed the plot/premise. The world was a little old fashion in terms of speech and mannerisms, which was a little odd but gave the novel a Lion, Witch and Wardrobe vibe.
The drawback to me was the characterization. They were, in fact, teenagers, so although the immaturity annoyed me, it was realistic. However, I didn’t see much distinction between the four personalities (which could be because of the narrator). The romance was a little teenage angst for my taste, but again, I’m 40 so take that opinion with a grain of salt.
I’m afraid I disliked the narration. I didn’t like any of her male voices. She made all the teenagers seem less mature and gave them a valley girl tone I found annoying. I might have liked this novel better had I read it.

THE WORLD OF AMAR REALLY COMES TO LIFE WITH HER VOICE, AND I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE ENDING OF THE BOOK! PLEASE RELEASE THE REST OF THEM!!!!
SO ADD A NORMAL HIGHSCHOOL YOUNG WOMAN AND HER TWIN BROTHER CLINT, WITH EASTON AND BOBBY AND LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN!
